Do you need to have a teaching position or just your teaching license in Kentucky?

I don't think you have to have either to coach, however, if there is someone interested who is a teacher, then they get the job. I know that's how some things unfolded at Dixie years ago.

They may have a few open, but do any of these supposed candidates teach those positions is what I was getting at.

Boone Co baseball season has now ended. That should free up the AD to jumpstart this process.

No, not yet and it is way late in the process. How do you not hire a basketball coach before the summer break? Wilhoit should've stepped down from his coaching duties at Boone and had this done already.

I would think that , unlike college, the AD is not solely responsible for hiring coaches. I'd assume the principal has as much say as anyone.

I wonder if Mike Flynn who just left Bourbon Co. would be a consideration... In the other thread it said he wanted to get closer to his wife in that area.

I agree - there is no reason to wait this long to hire the coach. Summer ball is about to start. The Boone Co. school system isn't known for making a lot of decisions with athletics 1st in mind though....

If Mike Flynn is interested I think he would be a "No Brainer" but as I have already stated based upon some of their other recent coaching hires I won't expect anything earth shattering.

I'm still going to guess that it goes to Garnett, but I hear Scott High has nothing to worry about because from a close source he has pulled his name out.

I heard the same thing from a very very close source.

Good news, we definitely don't want to lose Coach Carr.

Baseball is over, school is out and summer basketball has started.

Have I missed the announcement or is this still ongoing?

I think they're still interviewing and it may take a week or more to even offer the position.

Im still hearing names like Pittman, Garnett, and Sullivan.

The delay in naming a coach will set their program back years. They face enough challenges already with the schedule they will have to play. I don't understand some of the choices (or lack of) that some ADs and administrators make. In this case, the wrong decision would have been better than no decision. Honestly, I don't think they could go wrong with Pittman or Garnett. Stuff like this and Brossart firing their entire football staff in the 2nd week of June is completely idiotic, and not fair to the kids-which are the people who matter most.

At this point I think it is going to take alot of convincing by the administration to get any quality coach to step in.
