April 23, 200818 yr I'm a true fan, but I live 2.5 hours from Cincinnati. With gas being at $3.50 a gallon, ticket prices being the way they are, it's very hard for me to make more than 4-5 games a year. A lot of Reds fans are in the same boat I am. The Reds are very dependent on drawing fans from 2-4 hours away. The Cubs don't have to worry about that. While I understand that's a factor and things are far more spread out in the Northern Kentucky, Southern Ohio area, I just think drawing under 20 thousand on a regular basis is awful. I do see your point. :thumb:
April 23, 200818 yr GABP seats right at 42 thousand. How many sell outs have the Reds had since the place opened? I think you can count the number of sell outs on one hand each year. Yes, the Reds haven't put a quality product on the field in recent years, yes, Chicago is a much larger area to draw fans from. The fan support is awful and even when they were in it a couple years ago, even half off seats and dollar hot dogs didn't sell the place out and that game was against a Division rival and 1st or 2nd place team in the Cardinals. So if and when this team actually does start winning and the place does start selling out on a regular basis, it will just show how many TRUE fans there are, not many. How many times does Marty say under 15,000 for this "titanic struggle". That's sad, UNDER 15,000??? Cubs fans show up and support their team night in and night out. Reds fans only show up when the team is any good, something isn't right about that, even if I know that's the nature of the business for many teams. Majority of teams have fans that wont show up if the product stinks. Look at Boston 6 or 7 years ago, they were ranked somewhere around 18th in the league in attendance. Keep in mind the Reds normally start slow early in the year because of weather and kids still in school. Me personally, just like with the bengals, i show up to my fair share of games no matter how bad the team is.I wish more people would come but i dont mind buying a 9 dollar bleacher seat and moving down to field level. 100 Years.

Keep in mind the Reds normally start slow early in the year because of weather and kids still in school. Also you have to keep in mind that with 7:00 games on weeknights some parents wont go or wont let their kids go because it's a school night and they dont want there kids out late. With prices these days its not worth only going for half a game.

The Reds will have sell outs for that series, the Red Sox series, the Cubs series will bring a bunch of people. I would give anything for this team to consistenly play well, that way the handful of us on Track the Reds can refuse anyone else to jump on the bandwagon. :lol:
April 23, 200818 yr The guy hit last year, and frankly, if it comes down to Hopper, Patterson, Freel and/or Hairston for the job, Hopper deserves the chance to win it. I can understand where you're coming from. I'm just not a fan of having a CF with no pop in his bat. I'd personally like to see Bruce brought up and given the job on an everyday basis. Even though Volquez has been fantastic, I didn't like trading Josh Hamilton. I know you have to give up talent to get it though.

Even in 2001 they played before an AVERAGE of 96.7% capacity. There may be a lot of bandwagon Red Sox fans across the country but the fans IN Boston are very loyal and show up all the time.

April 23, 200818 yr The bad thing about the CF issue, is they are carrying 4 guys to play one position. I know a couple may play other positions, but that has been rare.
