Everytime you get sick and tired of this team, they come out and have a night like this, hopefully they keep it going for more than one night.

 

I know what you mean, I said before the season started that I was tired of hearing the same "optimism" and "promises" only to see the same old results. I will stay a Reds fan regardless but this team, mangement and front office are going to have to prove it now. I am tired of the lip service and want to see results.

100 years. I guess that's your comeback for everything. It won't stop me from making a post when it comes to the Reds, a franchise that may have underwent one of the largest falls from the top in the past 30 years.

It's pretty simple for me. For the last 5 years this franchise has been focusing on restocking a farm system that was flat out empty because of the previous management teams. We are at the point that all of the hard work is set to start paying off. Bring in Dusty and all of that work is flushed away. No thanks...

Let me start by saying I think it's great Hairston is getting a chance and who knows, maybe he will continue to play well. But let's not forget a little something here. He is a 32 year old player who has now been with 4 different teams and has a lifetime batting average of around .250

I totally agree. I can't figure out why he isn't given a couple of weeks to see what he can do. I can't even comprehend why they are paying Patterson all of that money when Hopper should have been given the chance.

Largest falls from the top in the past 30 years? The Reds did win a World Series in 1990, and finished 2nd in the NL West the three seasons before that. The Reds won the NL Central in 94 and 95, and finished 2nd in 1999 and 2000. It has been 12 years since they made the playoffs, but I hardly think that qualifies as largest fall from the top in 30 years.

The fan support is awful and even when they were in it a couple years ago, even half off seats and dollar hot dogs didn't sell the place out and that game was against a Division rival and 1st or 2nd place team in the Cardinals.

I'm a true fan, but I live 2.5 hours from Cincinnati. With gas being at $3.50 a gallon, ticket prices being the way they are, it's very hard for me to make more than 4-5 games a year. A lot of Reds fans are in the same boat I am. The Reds are very dependent on drawing fans from 2-4 hours away. The Cubs don't have to worry about that.

Maybe Patterson did plummet back to earth. Maybe Hairston will as well. Why not ride the hot bat for as long as you can? If Hairston comes back down, then you give Hopper a chance. It's all about who is helping the team now.
