In 2005, Dusty seemed to have a pathological desire to keep Hairston out of the lineup, when it was obvious that he was the team's best leadoff hitter and second baseman from a defensive standpoint. Instead, he opted to play Todd Walker at 2B (horrible defense) with Hairston seeing more time in the outfield (CF, primarily, after Patterson flopped) and trying desperately to give Todd Hollandsworth the job in LF. Of course, there's no reason to play Hairston regularly now with Hopper deserving a shot, but if he does ... well, that's the way Dusty does things. Get used to it, Reds fans.

Years ago, I read knowledgable Giants fans on some fan blogs blasting Dusty for this and that, even when they were winning, and my thoughts were always "He can't be that bad." Well, yes ... he was. Even in his first year, it was apparent that Dusty just isn't a very good strategist and manager, and leopards rarely change their spots. I'm simply pointing out the same crap I saw with the Cubs.
