April 24, 200818 yr Their #1 is very solid. I'm going to wait until their #3 and #4 go through the league once before I'm completely sold on them. Cueto has shown to be susceptible to the long ball and Ranger fans didn't call Volquez the volcano for nothing. He's given up a lot of walks so far and once hitters see him again we'll see what happens. I think they'll be good in the long run but I wouldn't be shocked to see both of them finish with ERAs north of 4.00 this season. I agree with your assessment. I guess time will tell.

April 24, 200818 yr The recap said at 9-13 this is the Reds worst start in five years. That 2003 team finished 69-93. If that ends up happening, it will be the 4th time since 2001 the Reds have lost at least 90 games, another year they lost 89. :scared:

He has to be too fine to be successful and since the NL saw him that first time through in 2006 they don't swing when he keeps the ball off the plate and makes him come in the zone--that has led him to pitch like what he is: a number 4 or 5 starter. Unfortunately for the Reds they need him to pitch like a number 2. He can sing okay though.

April 24, 200818 yr Hard to argue that... I think Cueto and Volquez will be very solid players down the road for the Reds and they have to potential to suprise this season. I just think that it is asking a lot for them to hold down the 2 and 3 spots in the rotation at this point. If a 70-75 win season this year is what it costs for them to grow into those postions then it wouldn't be that bad of a thing. They are both young enough to be a big part of the team for a long time.

April 24, 200818 yr Since his fast 8-1 start in his intial season as a Red, Bronson has been pretty mediocre, at best. I am beginning to wonder if maybe the Guitar Man is more capable as a musician than as a ML hurler. I know we need Bronson to pitch well and eat innings, but I wonder if it is gonna happen this year.
