Mr. Basketball

Featured Replies

In the end, Mr. Basketball is nice. But a scholarship and chance to play for a high profile college program while getting a tremendous education is great! Mack, Miller, Hopson all will have their chance to shine in the national spot-light. Mack (Butler U), Miller (Kentucky), and Hopson (undeclared), all deserve their mention but whatever two don't win it, I'm sure they will move on without hesitation and they will all still be considered winners once they start their college careers.

From two years ago when Mr. BBall was Walt Allen (Presbyterian College) to now, its a whole new level.

FWIW, I saw Hopson play last season in a loss against Apollo. By far the most impressive aspect of his game was in the pre-game. Edmundson, was twice the player he was that night. It may not be fair to judge him by just one game, but thats all I have to work with, and it was obvious that he had no desire to be on the court at all.

While I haven't personally seen him play i'm sure Mack is an excellent player as well... But during this whole season it has been about Hopson and Miller and I don't believe that there is anything different now. Whichever gets his team the furthest will win it IMO. As for Hopson. I've seen UH play quite a few times this year and I will agree with everyone that he is lazy SOMETIMES. However, lazy or not, the kid is obviously doing something right don't you think? Congrats to all the kids and good luck, have fun with it.

Its a 2 horse race, it has been since Mackey got in trouble.

It's a 3 man race. Mack is right in the mix with Miller and Hopson and imo is the better basketball player than both.

IMO I heard Mack is changing the minds of a whole lot of people in the state. Also it is really helping him that he is getting big time press out of Lexington and now Louisville.

I have been on Miller as Mr. Basketball since I first saw him, but I think I would like to see Mr. Mack put on a performance in the Sweet 16 that could change my mind.

Also lets put it like this, if Mack goes on to have a wonderful career at Butler.....how mad is the UK faithful going to be that we let another one get away. Much less a player right out of Lexington.

Mr. Basketball is Darius Miller's to lose. I do think if Mason County can't make it to Rupp Arena in March, it could hurt his chances. Remember, the region is played at Montgomery County. This is the first time the 10th region will be played away from the Fieldhouse in years.

I like Shelvin Mack. He has had the best season of the trio of candidates. If he can get the Defenders to the Sweet 16 and continue to play well, who knows.

I think Scotty Hopson has a chance, but only if UK or UofL gets a commitment from him. He will not win Kentucky Mr. Basketball as a Mississippi State signee.

The big 3 (Mack, Hopson, and Miller) could end up at Kentucky.....

I'll say Mack for Mr. Basketball.

Miller will get it, isn't he going to play for UK.

Mr. Mack has played well in every game iths season! Played in the top region, the 11th. Should be Mr. Basketball hands down!:thumb:

Where the kid is going to college has nothing to do with Mr. Basketball. I'm not saying the judges won't have it in the back of their minds, but it's not supposed to be based on that. After all, it is a high school award.

If you remember back in 2004 when Chris Lofton won Mr. Basketball. I don't know if he had already committed to Tennessee yet but that didn't affect him winning the award. What are they going to do now take it away from him because he signed with an out of state school? I don't think so.

1. Miller

2. Mack

3. Hopson

(Hopson may have the best college upside but too many people don't think he plays hard enough, often enough)
