Mr. Basketball

I don't think that's the case anymore.

It CAN happen, there is a period in which you can turn in your vote as a coach, and it lasts before and after state. It's up to each coach.

Mason Co. looks like he is the favorite!

I vote to do away with this award altogether. It is about as stupid as the Heisman....more about exposure and publicity...certainly the player is capable, but why have awards based on a forced decisions? There are already regional POY isn't that enough?

I think it is more of an honor to be the best player in the STATE than just the regional, what if you're in a weak region? The 10th isn't necessarily stacked.

Miller should be Mr Basketball!

I thought you would just tell me it was a stupid post. :thumb:

No, that would be mean and might get me kicked off.;)

Just for clarification, from email:

The selection of Mr./Miss Basketball is entirely determined by the vote of the coaches who return their ballots to the Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation Office.

Miss Basketball will be announced Wednesday, March 26th at the winner’s respective high school. Mr. Basketball will be announced Wednesday, April 2nd at a press conference at the winner’s respective high school.

When did the votes have to be in by?:thumb:

How can a player be rated #9 in the country (rivals) but yet not win Mr.Basketball in his own state. Hopson should win.

I think the people voting in this state and this web site, who has seen more than just a high light reel, should know who really is the best player.........

DARIUS MILLER !:flame:

Miller hands down, State champs, Tourney MVP, and UK signee. His name is probably already engraved on the trophy.

This post is very accurate!

Miller hands down. It usually takes a special player to win state for his team and he has done it. I favored Hopson prior to the Sweet 16 but Miller came through like he should to be Mr. Basketball. Hopson is a distant second. Slone and Mack are off the radar, A case could be made for Henderson but it would be weak. What do the National media know about how Ky players match up against each other when playing in Ky? Nothing.

Exactly ! :thumb:

McDonald All-American, World Select Team, top 10 ranking in the country. Give the award to Miller, I don't believe Hopson would worry about it.

That's exactly how I feel, I think Miller earned the award by all means, but I think Hopson will be a better college and pro player. He's not too worried.

I would put Scotty Hopson on my All-World Underachieving Team based on the two times I have seen him play.

He does have a wealth of natural talent and I can only hope that he successfully chooses a college where a coach can bring it out of him.
