Mr. Basketball

Featured Replies

^Hopson was maybe the 4th most impressive player in the Sweet 16 behind seniors Miller, Henderson, and Slone. Raw potential doesn't equal best high school senior...

Not even close... He didn't have the crowd talking about anything but lack of hustle and defense... More than 3 players looked better than him.

Actually I was fairly impressed with the big kid from Owensboro, not saying he should win the award, but just saying he was impressive.

And FWIW, I think Miller won it the moment he signed his LOI, but validated it this weekend...

You think Walls was a better player than Pettigrew and Knowles?

No question in my mind. Walls was the best player on the team that was the best team in the state. He basically carried Scott Co. in the Sweet 16 until the championship game. I think with a player like Pettigrew, he was beat the 1st round of the district in an average region. How could you give Mr. Basketbll to him?

I think Mack deserves it and so does Hopson, but with the way the sweet 16 turned out I believe Miller will get it.

Miller will win it. In the end, he was not only a great HS player, but took his team to the title. Both games on Saturday, when Mason needed a basket, Miller got it for them.

Darius Miller should get the award because of his accomplishments on the court, especially this weekend. He is also a very good person. He will represent our state very well as Mr. Basketball- on and off the court. Congratulations to Darius, the staff, and players on their state championship!

No doubt Miller should win it. I think if Mack and Station were at the State and people got more of a chance to see him he would have had an argument.

At this point and time it is Millers to loose Saturday night:scared:

Isn't Mr. Basketball voted on before the state tournament even starts??

I do think that Miller will (already is) the winner!!

I understand the whole leading the best team thing, but Mr. Basketball is a single person, not just who happens to be the best player on the team who wins state, that's what the Sweet 16 MVP award is for.

Miller still deserves it, but not just because his team won state, but because he was the best player in the state this season.

Miller was the best player in the state this year. Size, speed, and power don't come along very often like Miller has. He was totally dominant in the post season and saved his best performance for the state championship.

I'd be somewhat surprised if he doesn't win it. Hopson just doesn't have the same work ethic that Miller does.

Not any more, the vote occurs after the S-16.

OK, thanks! :thumb: I knew that they used to vote on it before the S-16, but didn't know that they changed it.

Miller will probably for sure win the award now, but IMO he deserves it regardless.

On a better team that played against better compeition, I think if Walls wasn't at Scott County he would have been Mr. Basketball, I am a firm believer that a great player (mr. basketball caliaber) leads a good team, and good teams play, and win, at the Sweet 16 :jump:

What I hate is the that most of the voting is done before the Sweet 16!

I don't think that's the case anymore.
