Mr. Basketball

Miller deserves the award. I believe Mack had a better regular season, but Miller led his team to a state title and made a lot of big plays in doing so.

I would put Scotty Hopson on my All-World Underachieving Team based on the two times I have seen him play.

He does have a wealth of natural talent and I can only hope that he successfully chooses a college where a coach can bring it out of him.

I realize that all americans should impress day in and day out, but everyone has bad games, and honestly, has anyone on here talking about him even seen him play more than just a couple times? You can't judge a player on a couple bad games that you happened to see, especially when (almost) no one on here is getting paid to judge talent, and the guys who are, seem to think he is pretty special.

^

There's a big differance between bad games, and just not playing hard. I think from everthing I've seen, and read, that's the bigest knock on him.

Are other things considered when this award is given or is it just based on accomplishments on the court? Are grades, community service, and other stuff of this nature figured in when chosing the recipient of this award? Just wondering.....I don't really know much about the selection process.

If he wouldnt play hard at the biggest stage in the state at the Sweet16 against the state's number 1 team, how can any of us believe that he played hard in any other game? That is the biggest knock and you hear it from everyone that has seen him play any high school games. It's a lack of respect for the game and I honestly cant see him appreciating the award.

I don't know if this is accurate or not, but someone agrees with you. See post 103!

I was under the impression it was coaches and reporters, but I may be wrong.

Head coaches only

Darius Miller deserves the award. But even if he didn't get it, I'm sure that state championship ring will mean more in the long run. By the way, he signs autographs on UK stuff as #1, not his Mason Co. number 21.

Maybe you should look at the head to head competition between the two kids, for those of you who are still undecided.

Those guys getting paid to judge usually only get to watch summer ball and camps. There is some great talent at these events, but the only defense being played is on the guy with ball. The guy in playing him (man to man) spreads his arms out and pretends he is doing something. Every now and then you see a cutter flying to the basket ( uncontested of course ) for a dunk.

As for the people in these threads and through out the state, we get to see first hand how these kids play and react in a " REAL GAME ".:fire:

The race is over Mr. Basketball belong to Mr. Miller with Mr. Mack number 2 and Mr. Hopson number 3.

Thanks to all who feel this is not the order of the Mr. basketball race, but it is a fact!

Miller should be Mr Basketball.
