February 16, 200818 yr A 30-year-old tight end with a bad knee and sagging numbers. Good luck with that one. Signing Rod Coleman makes a little more sense doesn't it?
February 16, 200818 yr I definatly wouldn't break the bank on him for the reasons you mentioned. If I felt like I could get a good deal on him then I'd do it but I wouldn't sell my soul for him. Gonzalaz could be on the market too as the Chiefs are trying to make a youth movement.
February 16, 200818 yr I'm just a little curious on why the Falcons would release him so easily. Few minor injuries, him and Vick were like peaches and cream on the field. Petrino really deflated his stats also.
February 16, 200818 yr The Falcons are in rebuilding mode so they are dropping older players + money. The Bengals could do a contract with incentives in it to protect themselves. If he didn't like that then they could just pass on him.

And that's assuming Marvin and the OC retool the plays and play calling to get Crumpler some routes. I don't think he will take kindly to blocking and being the last option when he does go out.
February 16, 200818 yr And that's assuming Marvin and the OC retool the plays and play calling to get Crumpler some routes. I don't think he will take kindly to blocking and being the last option when he does go out. Very true. The Bengals have historically simply not used their tight ends as a primary pass-receiving threat and with the money they have invested in their WR corps, I can't see them making that change. No way Bengals management has the guts to make this type of acquisition anyway.
February 16, 200818 yr Henry is the Bengals TE. They just use a number 3 WR instead of a TE to hold the safeties. I wouldn't throw a ton of money at him but I would definatly look into it and see if he would be interested in an incentive based contract. It would be nice if they could use a draft pick that would have been for a TE instead on defense.
February 16, 200818 yr And that's assuming Marvin and the OC retool the plays and play calling to get Crumpler some routes. I don't think he will take kindly to blocking and being the last option when he does go out. Maybe they would retool it if they thought they had a TE worth throwing the ball to. I wouldn't call the TE's number very often the last few years either if I were them.
February 16, 200818 yr I think the Bengals should look hard at signing Crumpler. If they don't, as a season ticket holder, I expect someone as least as good as Crumpler to join the Bengals at TE.
February 16, 200818 yr If anyone can find any info about the Seahawks cap situation, I'd greatly appreciate it... I'd love to see them go after Crumpler if they have the cash, Pollard is getting up there in age.
February 16, 200818 yr Well, I doubt the BENGALS would bring in a TE like Crumpler and not revamp the offense some to help meet his subset of skills. It would make very LITTLE sense to bring him in and just use him to block, we have that now. As a season ticket holder myself, I would love an upgrade at TE, I do not EXPECT it however. I think there are other needs on this team that need to be addressed beforea TE. It would be great to have a better TE in the end, no doubt. However, we have survived on offense w/out one. Get us the "D" help we need to succeed!
February 16, 200818 yr I don't see the Bengals signing Crumpler. He's had some injury issues lately, he won't be cheap and TE is priority #1. I would like to see them utilize the TE in the passing game but I would rather see the "D" addressed first.
February 17, 200818 yr If anyone can find any info about the Seahawks cap situation, I'd greatly appreciate it... I'd love to see them go after Crumpler if they have the cash, Pollard is getting up there in age. It's a longshot but there is a rumour that Gonzo might end up there. The Chiefs are rebuilding and looking to get young. The Seahawks are in a win now mode and need a TE. Gonzo only wants to go where he has a shot to be a contender. He would be a GREAT fit there IMO.
