February 15, 200818 yr Author I just read this and thought the same. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3247718 :thumb: Crumpler, who just completed his seventh season, all with Atlanta, has 316 career catches for 4,212 yards and 35 touchdowns. He had been with the team since 2001 and was selected to five Pro Bowls.
February 15, 200818 yr He said he wants to build through free agency and the draft, and that they're really looking for a TE. Well, here's his chance. Take the money they're considering paying Smith with the franchise tag, and put it towards Crumpler.

I'm sure Crumpler won't be cheap but to add a receiving Tight End that has his pass catching ability on top of being a good blocker you have to do it. Can you imagine Crumpler complimenting Chad, TJ and Henry. Jeeeez...

February 15, 200818 yr Author Crumpler in the The only logical thing I could think of was he was due a large raise, but that's just a guess.
February 15, 200818 yr Falcons showing why they won't be a contender again for a long, long time. VERY stupid move and will be interesting to see where he ends up.
February 16, 200818 yr If you think about it,the majoirity of the good teams in the NFL have a good to TE they can count on. Watson in New England, Gates in San Diego, Miller in Pittsburgh, Clark in Indianoplios, Witten in Dallas, the list goes on and on, Just think how much Crumpler would open up the field for the Bengals. No team could afford to double team CJ or TJ. A lot of single coverage, we would see career years from a lot of guy IMO.
February 16, 200818 yr There are 2 guys that could really benefit by getting him besides Crumpler himself... Carson and Chad if he stays. Crumpler woudl put a burden on double teaming Chad. I don't know that he is as good as he used to be but it is without a doubt an upgrade at the position. I say go for it so you can use another draft pick on defense!
February 16, 200818 yr That would also give the Bengals one of the best if not the best 4 wide packages in the NFL!
