After losing to St. Pat four times this year at the Varsity level, Deming easily beat St. Pat tonight at the freshman level by playing a Varsity starter. Any thoughts out there about playing your varsity starters in Freshman games?

The Deming varsity starter is a true freshman, and yes should be allowed to play freshman ball. Also heard the other "varsity starter" was out due to sickness?

If you play varsity ball you should not be playing freshman as well

I find this a joke. If someone is starting varsity, why would the coach be such a moron to take a chance of injury with a freshman or jv game?

If you are a freshman why not play freshman ball!!!!!! The more experience the better no matter at what level.

Let him play. Alot of small schools will let a kid play freshman, sit out JV and then start varsity.

Dont like it at all. If the kid has been playing varsity ball all, or most of the year, then he shouldn't be able to drop back down and play. Not only is some other kid who's been starting, now sitting, this can cause alot of friction.

No problem with it. Freshmen need all the experience they can get, no matter if they are starting varsity or not. He is going to be playing with those kids in the next few years and he needs to develop some chemistry with those players.

He's a freshman and somebody's offended he played freshman ball? Unless he's like 6-10 or plays like Mayo did as a freshman I have no problem with it. I'd think St. Pat's coaches and freshman players would want to get an honest assesment of their team by playing the best their opponent has to offer. Don't you get better by playing better competition?

You could get hurt in practice. The freshmen should get a chance to play together as often as they can.

:thumb: I agree.

If someone did it with the right intentions, then it should be fine. Too bad we don't know the coach's real reasons.

Why not? I mean these kids are freshman, so why shouldn't they be a loud to play at the freshman level. The more opportunity the player gets, the better the player will become. Also this is a good opportunity to play with the people that person will be playing with in a couple of years. The player should not be punished and not aloud to play freshman ball, just because they also play Varsity. As someone said unless the player is OJ Mayo like as a freshman, there is no reason why they shouldn't be aloud to play...
