I would have to say that Charles Thomas from Harlan was one of the best dunkers from this area. I didn't get to see a lot of players play before him so somebody may know of someone else, but he was the best that I've seen.

Has NewCath ever had anyone considered a great dunker? I remember Brian Dance threw down a couple in his career, but they weren't what I considered acrobatic. I know that Aaron Mann could throw down some nice dunks when shooting around, but I don't remember him doing it in a game. Corey Myers could, but I don't know that he did more than a couple of times. Ronny Dawn could really get up and attack the rim, but he always laid it in as oppossed to throwing it down. For the older guys in here, during the 60's, 70's, and 80's, were there any guys who could really throw down?

Dante Gay from Clark County was the best in school history. Gym was full 45 minutes before tip to watch him work. 5' 9 and jump out of the gym. Was a senior in 90 when clark lost to holmes in the semis of the sweet 16. Went on to play at Georgia State.

Gayle Conley from Deming could touch top of square in the late 80's. He brought the Devils off their feet on many occasions in Mt.Olivet.

What about Warren Central's Lonnell DeWalt's two dunks against MC in the state tourney? Those were nice!

Anybody see a backboard shattered in a high school game? I not talking about practice. Not. Not practice. But a game.

I remember when CovCath's Brennan Votel (Penn) broke the rim at NCC one night before th game, it was great.

 

Brennan was good dunker and so was Stephen Muck.

In the 70's when I played dunks were banned. If you got caught doing it in warmups your team was given a technical.
