Best dunker from your high school?

Featured Replies

Add Justin Jones to the list for Hazard. Also, Freeman Robertson's dunk against owlsley Co. in the 2003 All A tournament was nasty. One dribble from the top of the key with emn on him.

Are you talking about the game against Highlands? I was there and was very impressed!

Chadwell was a sick dunker and a wiry kid too when he played. Was that dunk over 6'7 Marvin Cox or 6'6 Bob Cowie and I am assuming the 88' state tourney right?

Sims is still playing professional basketball in Europe.

Cool, he looked pretty decent in the Morehead league, but I felt he was a little overweight. He must've gotten himself back into game shape.

Dave Dinn - Boone County 1986

Bart Bresser - Walton Verona 1990

Yes he played in the early 90's he was a great dunker. They was one of the best teams in Western Ky. during his time.:thumb:

Chad Spencer was a really good dunker from there as well.

Looks like a charge to me!

If you'd seen the frame-by-frame of the whole thing, he leaps over the St. Pat player. Very little contact made.

Were you even at the game? The kid is already falling down with no contact. And as Fraysure said, little contact was made, because Darius isn't even at the peak of his jump.

My sweet sixteen favorite was Orlandus Hill Paducah Tilhman '03

Favorite all around Boris Siakam- Caverna

Now fav. Darius Miller Mason co.

Orlandus Hill was a very powerful dunker. I remember watching him when PT played Mason Co. that year in the second round. The round just before that Mason Co. set the record for number of threes by one team if I'm not mistaking

I loved watching Boris play in the Sweet Sixteen. He was a tremendous athlete.

Lawrence Co. had a beast of kid in the mid 80's that would try to tear the rim off. In fact during warm ups at Fairview he shattered a backboard. I believe it was 86-87 season.

The best in my memory from Owsley County is Mike Turner, class of '83. He was just 6'2, but his arm length and hand size were incredible. I kept the scorebook his senior year and kept a record of his dunks. He had 18 game dunks that year, and they were of all variety. His verticle leap was measured at Transy's summer camp at well over 30 inches. And he rarely lost a jump ball tip. Reggie Hanson's brother, Arthur, of Pulaski County, was around 6'7 or 6'8, but Mike never lost a tip to him in the two years they went against one another. He was a quick leaper.

I need to add something to this post. Mike Turner was the best 'in game' dunker I've seen at Owsley County. But the best pre-game warm up dunker that I've seen in an Owls uniform was Mike's teammate, Caleb Dean. He was only 6'3, but just like Mike, he had extremely long arms. He could put on a show in warm ups, but only had a couple of dunks in actual games. His elbows would be rim high when he dunked. And he was a shot blocking machine too.

Augusta- Patrick Kelsch, Look at his Avitar he has hops.

Finally, the respect and recognition that I deserve!

Russ Chadwell was his name. Most people don't know but Farmer was also a good leaper!
