January 26, 200818 yr Not in Mel Kiper's. Woodson is NOT a first round pick in Mel's mock. Only Ryan goes Round 1; no Woodson, no Brohm. Why has Brohm's stock fallen so far?
January 26, 200818 yr So now the reason Couch stunk is b/c they messed with his mechanics? Will it ever be that he was just horribly over rated? Now you are showing your ignorance in other areas too.
January 26, 200818 yr It also said that his system brings out and magnifies Woodson's weakness while masking his strengths--it didn't say that his delivery was a fatal flaw, just not a good fit for Matz's system. I didn't want to quote the rest of the article since you have to have Insider to read it but it also said that Woodson's arm strength is good enough to make up for a slower delivery while Ainge and Brennan have a quicker release but weaker arms. I would think that the teams that draft any of the 3 quarterbacks would try to fit their strengths into the system and not totally change their mechanics. It also said that NONE of the quarterbacks is having a good week in Martz's offense as it takes longer than a week to learn the timing and throws. It also said that Woodson's draft position will now depend heavily on individual workouts where he can showcase his strengths. A slow drop and release is a fatal flaw in the NFL..... I agree that Martz is terrible at developing QB's, but the problems that are being highlighted will be problems anywhere in the NFL.
January 26, 200818 yr I'd rank the QB's like this: 1st rd - Matt Ryan late 1st/early 2nd - Brohm late 2nd/early 3rd - Woodson, Flacco 3rd and beyond - Brennan, Ainge The Flacco kid was talked about during the regular season as possibly being the 2nd QB taken, and he seems to be doing nothing to hurt himself (other than those pesky snaps). Slow drops and slow releases are major drawbacks for a QB. Ultimately, it may help both of them to fall.
January 26, 200818 yr Martz has nothing to do with Woodson's ability. If his stock is falling it's because he was possibly overrated. EXACTLY! I love Woodson, but he was wildly overrated imo.

January 26, 200818 yr I would add Henne into that 3-5 round range. Can't believe I forgot Henne. And I'm a Michigan fan!! Guess they can't call me a homer. I'd slide Henne in that late 2nd/early 3rd category. He has had a great week at the Senior Bowl.

He has had a great week at the Senior Bowl. Come on just when I thought you were one of the good guys. Just kidding. However I have been hearing Henne is a second round pick. I honestly think he is the best pro prospect in this draft. Not saying this because I am a UM fan but Henne will be a stud in the NFL. Woodson was a good college Qb but a bit overrated I feel.
January 26, 200818 yr Obviously sarcasm, OR. Oh I figured everyone would pull for a guy from the state, guess I'm mistaken.
January 26, 200818 yr Oh I figured everyone would pull for a guy from the state, guess I'm mistaken. I am...But the only QB from this state going in the 1st round wears red.
January 26, 200818 yr Slow delivery plus zero foot speed equals a lot of time on his back in the NFL... You know you are on a UK based website when you say Brian Brohm is more mobile than Woodson and get scorned. Look it up...I said it. Woodson will have a career in the NFL because of his prototypical size, but only if he stays on top of his game. If you have NFL network and watch the Senior bowl practices he has looked horrible. BTW....I'm not much on mechanics being a deciding factor, but for whatever reasonhe doesn't get the ball their in time until the last option is the only option.
January 26, 200818 yr IMO, he is far better prospect than the others. Matt Ryan first tier Colt, Woodson and Brohm are 2nd tier. ( maybe a few others in this class) I like that everyone is putting Matt Ryan on such a pedastel, he is nowhere close to the talent of Brian, but I hope that he goes before Brian. The NFL "gurus" have shown that they don't know how to evaluate real QB talent in the NFL. Brohm, Woodson
January 26, 200818 yr Now you are showing your ignorance in other areas too. That's funny, why is almost everyone else agreeing with me? Keep trying though.
January 26, 200818 yr I cannot begin to say how much I appreciate Andre Woodson and what he was able to accomplish at UK in his career. Because of this, I desperately hope that he makes it in the NFL and has a long career. That being said, I always felt the Woodson was just a good QB surrounded by great talent. Tamme, Burton, Johnson, and Little were all at is disposal, and will all be in the NFL. You surround anyone with that kind of talent and they will have success. I don't remember any other QB at UK with anything close to this talent. Woodson definitely had some defiencies that will need to be worked on for him to be successful at the next level (mobility, holding the ball to long, hitch in delivery, etc.). I just hope he is drafted by a team with a great QB coach that will develop his game. If he goes to the right team, sits a couple of years with the proper instruction, he has the potential to be a solid NFL QB. I wish him the absolute best.
