I don't think Woodson is as bad as this article states, but we all have talked about his serious immobility and slow delivery. I don't think he'll be a starter in the NFL anytime soon, but in regards to this game, and with the rules they have in this game (no blitzing, etc) he will shine in THIS game.

A slow drop and release is a fatal flaw in the NFL.....

 

I agree that Martz is terrible at developing QB's, but the problems that are being highlighted will be problems anywhere in the NFL.

 

How is he terrible at developing QB's? He made Kurt Warner an MVP, he made Bulger a very good QB, and now he gave Kitna a great couple of years in Detroit at the end of his career. So I think he has shown to be great at handling a QB and making someone a good QB...

Why has Brohm's stock fallen so far?

 

His injury history is a concern for a lot of scouts. Also, his senior season was not on the level of his junior year. His struggles in Coach Kragthorpe's offense have been a concern because it is considered to be a more pro-style offense than the one he played in under Petrino. He is also, probably, suffering from the same things Leinart and Quinn suffered from by coming back for a year. People have seen the good things he can do. All a scout can do in his senior year is find weaknesses and drop his stock, much like the prior QBs mentioned.

 

It also has to do with the rise of Matt Ryan's stock. He has played in a more pro-style offense with less talent than Brohm has had and had some success and showed a lot of leadership this year. If he was a junior and came back next year, though, he would probably suffer from the same critiques as Brohm, Leinart and Quinn. JaMarcus Russell and Vince Young did it right; have a great bowl game combined with a stellar season and go pro while the momentum is with you.

I know what you mean, I watched a bunch of BC games and he never was very impressive to me either. I have always thought Woodson might not be as good as he was built up to be. Brian Brohm was pretty impressive to me, I'm not a UL fan either.

The lower you go the better the team unless you drop to early the second round.

I looked at about 5-6 mock drafts just a second ago...most have Brohm to Baltimore, with Woodson at Chicago, and Ryan going to Atlanta.....Brian from 5-8 sounds right to me.

I love your consistency. No matter how well Woodson always plays you find a way to cut him down and be critical of him. Its like a captain wanting to stick with his ship even though it is sinking.

If Woodson will prove the haters wrong, then his best chance to do it will be at Chicago. I still can't believe they stuck with Grossman all that time when he was struggling. Lovie sure shows loyalty to his QB's.

Flacco has looked great in this game, the best of the QBs on the field IMO.

 

Woodson has been just terrible. Took a safety, lost a fumble trying to make something out of nothing, and has looked very, very bad on some easy short throws. Actually the best part of his game has been him rolling out on bootlegs and throwing on the run. The other QBs have been just.....meh.

 

I don't agree with you about Brohm. I really don't see him going in the top 10, actually I don't see him going in the first round. I think it would be a major reach at that point. Stranger things have happened (hello David Klingler), but most of the mock drafts don't have him in the 1st (which is probably better for him). He'll need a very strong combine and workout to change that.

While watching the Senior Bowl, I really feel for Woodson. He is in free fall mode at this point, possibly dropping out of the draft, for sure in the later stages.

 

I think the expectations for the kid were way too high, and I think his game and the pro game will struggle to mesh. Honestly, I think the best thing that can happen is for him to go sit behind a good fundamental QB and learn. If he does that, and is able to correct that plodding drop, I think he can be successful 5 or so years down the road.
