He made some mistakes at times, there is no doubt. Every QB does. However, he had the tendency to err on the side of caution, thus his low number of picks. The guy takes care of the ball, and coaches love that.

The guy takes care of the ball, and coaches love that. He TRIES to take care of the ball, that's where the mental questions come into play. It is not sound to take a sack, so you don't throw it away. A high number of sacks, and a slow release lead to either physical shortcomings, or mental ones. Generally you can fix the mental ones.
January 28, 200818 yr I really think Andre' will be fine in the NFL, he may never win an MVP or make a Pro Bowl but could be a solid QB like a Trent Green when he's healthy
January 28, 200818 yr I mean, no one really knows who's gonna be the best, Brohm and Ryan could be bust just as quick as Woodson and there could be some relative unknown be the best QB out of the draft like a Brady or Gerrard

And part of that problem of not throwing the ball away is that he does stay in the pocket too long. If he got out of the pocket more, he could just throw the ball away instead of taking the sack. I think some of that could lie in the tackles for UK, who often got beat or were pushed deep. This led to Woodson stepping up instead of having the opportunity to leave the pocket as much. The sacks are not a product of the slow release, it is just an inability to get out of the pocket, which I believe can be learned.
January 28, 200818 yr The situation in which the players end up in is key in their performance/career, IMO. Yup, like Romo, had he been thrown in during the first 2 years of his carear he would have never been anything likely, QB's need to sit for at least a year, and likely 2 or 3 before starting!
