Cartoon mocking LCA and LexCath

Featured Replies

If I lived in the Somerset area, I'd be ashamed that that guy was representing me. He's a complete buffoon.

What is Somerset's deal? They have no private schools that they compete directly against for student-athletes. In terms of sports, recently Somerset lost to NewCath in the Semi's, however, had it been Beechwood, they would have done the same, though the Jumpers did have some very good players.

On the other hand, I found the article pretty funny. I just have one question, when did the store get a basketball state championship in stock? It had been out of stock for about 8 years, hadn't it?

If you guys would go back and look at the vote by the schools that voted on seperation, you would find that the majority will agree with this.

For the record, I am not for seperation. Just stating the majority thinks this.

THe original email was sent from the guy that G referenced. One of the recipients was everyone's favorite segregationist Wilson Sears. I bet he laughed his rear end off.

By the way, I don't have a problem with the cartoon. Its simply one person's view or attempt at humor. We should all be able to laugh at it.

The problem is with the delivery of the cartoon through a coach's listserv.

BTW, Coach Rains was none too happy and let everyone on the listserv know about it.

I guess I don't understand. Didn't LCA and LexCath just both get caught cheating? Weren't they just given the equivalent of a slap on the wrist? Weren't these things done with galactic stupidity right in the midst of a huge public/private recruiting debate? Haven't their actions rekindled the fire for discussion of a split? What on Earth could he possibly be upset about when someone pens a cartoon mocking his school for that? Maybe its just me, but if were him I would've merely taken the Bill Belichick 'Mums the Word' approach rather than acting indignant about it.

I think it was Coach Letton from LexCath that was none too happy, not Coach Raines.

LCA and Lexington Catholic both broke the rules (whether intentional or not)...are they immune to ridicule?

No, they shouldn't be immune. They got caught. I guess my whole point is, again, why are there so many administrators from the Somerset and Pulaski Co. schools spearheading the split. Where is their direct conflict?

The vote to split shows that there are many more schools other than Somerset and Pulaski that are for it.

Just curious, but why do you think the person who produced the cartoon was such a coward by not signing his name to his work?

Seems if everybody supports this measure so much, the person wouldn't be afraid to sign his name....

To me at least, not signing his/her name to their work, says more about the person, then what he/she was trying to say in the cartoon!

At least from the Somerset HS end of things, the Briar Jumpers have been knocked out of the boys All A Classic by a private school four of the last six years, and that has created some hard feelings.

Otherwise, however, there isn't a private school anywhere within an hour of Somerset, and it never has made much sense to me why the county schools would care one way or another.

As I've stated many times on BGP. There are very few topics off-limits, this is not one of them...

Kind of funny...

I think it is hilarious still laughing, the funniest thing was all of the coaches on the list serve getting all mad about everything. Bottom line is both of the schools in the picture got caught ......... So why all the hard feelings????? One coach actually cursed to the entire list serve and pretty much challenged the people to come to his house or something. Grown men mad over a newspaper cartoon.

Maybe there is no direct conflict but rather they just feel it is wrong to have publics and privates together based on principles as they see it.

After seeing Wilson Spears villianified for a stance that others don't agree with you, I can see his/her reasoning.
