What system would you like Greenup to run.

He ran the double wing against Raceland in 2005, I think. I thought the Franklin System worked pretty well for them, they did put up some points. Honestly, I would rather him change his defensive philosophy.

What offense do you think would work the best at Greenup?

Greenup County should run the Franklin system.

There seems to be something missing here. Nobody changes an offensive system that is working!!!!!

Maybe Greenup County couldn't collect enough money to send the coaching staff back to the Franklin seminar and keep them in the system??? Maybe that is the :flame:.

Yes me too. And with a little more option so Craft could run it more.

I agree, I liked the franklin system last year, but what is the most critical part of that offense? speed. GC lost most of speed from last years team, particuraly in the run game. The backfield is going to be much more of a power game with Lyle, Berry,Smith etc., Not saying we need to go back to the old power offense, but the franklin system will need some tweeking with the lack of speed this year.

Probably the biggest misconception about this offense is the need for speed, I think all offenses work better with speed, but space as in the spread makes you faster.

I don't think that speed is very important in this offense. Like oldonetechnique said, of course speed will make it better. But, the formation is what helps you in any spread type offense. Most of the passes are position passes, and if completed, will give you five yards. So, speed is not as important as catches. Runs after the catch are a plus, but if you get five yards per play, you will put some points on the board.

Now, if you have a great back or two, you can adapt to some more runs, which will open up the pass. And the formation will prevent teams from stacking players in the box. If you have a fast QB, you can add more run/pass options or QB draws.

Really, the only thing that I do not like about the Franklin offense is, there is no lead blocker in the backfield. There have been many times, I wish when running the ball, that we would have had a lead blocker. But, you can change formations if you want, for certain sets.

Lex Cath used some elements as they still did this year, but did not run the true system, if thats what you want to call it. If I had to pick a team that has run the true system the best it would be Owensboro Catholic.

They didn't look so hot against Meade County this year ...

Just sayin'.

Owensboro Catholic didn't play Meade County. Owensboro did ... I assume that's who you're thinking of. And believe me, the Red Devils' offense bears little resemblance to the scheme that Catholic employs.

Very well said, Ram.

Um, whoops.

Got my Owensboro schools mixed up!

Perhaps a corollary question is what team has won a state championship running Franklin's ,or whatever you want to call it, system?

I think that Danville won two state championships running a lot of things from that offense in 2000 and 2001. They ran the ball alot also, but I remember seeing something on the news about Harp and Danville being renamed "Air Ads."

BYU started the system with LaVelle Edwards. Mumme visited there often and moved it to the shotgun. Mumme also left the Y (TE) on the right side all the time and the X (WR) on the left all the time. This was done to increase practice reps coming from the same side of the field all the time. Mumme didn't run the zone read ala Texas and Vince Young. Franklin was on that staff and he has made it into a no huddle system with color coded armbands that tell the WR exactly what to do on each play. He has also upgraded the run game. Leach runs a lot more jet sweep stuff with it and both have added (especially Franklin) more trips stuff. The beauty of all of these systems is the amount of reps they get in practice. If you ever went to Mumme's practices it was a thing of art as far as the amount of reps the players got. They just flat out out exectue people with the system and create mismatches. They all use the screen game as an extension of their run game.

Stick this post is going to cost you some bucks buddy...don't let tony see this!!

I've never been to any of Tony's stuff. Mumme talks about a lot of it in one of the Coach of The Year Manuals. There's a lot of it on the net too. I wish I had the cash to go to Franklin's things. I think it would be worth the money to take a staff. The Chris Hatcher videos are great at explaining some of the actual plays.
