They did not run it very long there though did they. I heard it was scrapped half way through the season. When I saw them play Lynn camp last year they definetly were not running the Tony Franklin System.

Nothing against Coverdale, who from all accounts is an innovative offensive mind and a first-class guy, but it helps to have Trinity talent, too. His system wasn't quite as successful at Castle, for several reasons.

 

Like any good offensive scheme, it helps to have good players, too.

Could be that his system is very advanced or complicated and was not easily picked up or successful as well.

I will agree and disagree with this. Under Lidy Castle played 3 yards and a cloud of dust. Lidy was a god to alot of that community. When Coverdale came in and tried to run his offense and wasn't winning with it I believe he lost the support. Castle normally isn't loaded with speed. As a matter of fact the best player they have had in the last 10 years was a transfer from Evansville Bosse his junior or senior year. If Coverdale could have won with his system the support would have been there. But all it takes is a few losses with a flashy new offense when people are use to a power run game and you loose support.

I agree....I have seen kids and community not buy in a coach and the program suffered because of it. That coach ended up leaving and going to another school where the community, parents and kids bought in..... the coach ended up successful at that school because they believed in the system and him.

I heard today that Greenup County will no longer be running the Tony Franklin system. Instead, the Musketeers will revert back to the Power/Option game used in 2005 and 2006 and possibly the triple option with Eric Craft at QB.

 

Why would Greenup County leave a system that gave them a District Championship and an average of 36 points per game over their final 6 games?

You know I have no ideal why they would do that. Maybe they feel they have some really good lineman up front. I wouldn't think they do. But maybe They do.:confused:

That surprises me. I thought Greenup was doing a good job with the Franklin offense, it took Raceland a couple of years to do real well with it. I don't see why they would change. Greenup was able to score last season. It was their defense, in my opinion, that needed tweaked.

 

Sammons has changed offenses about three or four times, has he not? Not taking shots, just can't understand changing this much. After he went to the Franklin offense, I figured this would be the offense he would stick with.
