Simple question:

Do you think Pelphrey will ever coach at Kentucky? I think it comes down to how much success he has at Arkansas or wherever else he ends up. I am going out on a limb though and saying "Yes" at some point - Pelfrey will coach at UK.

Second, before everyone jumps on the Pelphrey bandwagon (or Ford, etc.), see what they do at their current stop. A good coach should win at Arkansas. Will Pelphrey? I think so, but I'm not sure. For instance:

What if Pelphrey has four years at Arkansas like this:

1. 22-8

2. 14-14

3. 16-12

4. 13-15

Does that mean he's ready for UK? I think everyone needs to see Pelphrey perform at a major college (Arkansas is definitely that) before he gets a chair in Lexington.

I hope it's next year!!!!!!!

C'mon, get real. BCG is going to turn this thing around. Why replace someone who hasn't had the time to prove himself at Kentucky with someone that hasn't had the time to prove himself at Arkansas?

I voted no because if the UK job were to open in a few years, then I think Travis Ford would be the one to get it...

In college, if you leave a program as a Player and have been considered, one of the best, most favorite or elite, I would never recommend you return as a Coach, unless near the end of your career.

The "fans", would turn on you, if your system didn't work quickly and your status as a Player, would then be questioned, combined with your Coaching skills.

John is an outstanding individual, very intelligent and understands the aspects of the game. He's one of my favorite people, I know. From a Player and Coaches perspective but most UK fans, is never content with whomever is the captain of the ship....so don't sink the vessel, if you can be successful elsewhere.

The next coach will probably be either Ford or Pelphrey, that is almost a certainty. They both have to have success at their current stops in order to do that, and I believe that at least one of them will. It will be necessary for the man to get the job to string together a few 20 win seasons, and probably make a Sweet 16 appearance or two. One of them will do it, and I think Pelphrey is probably the fan favorite of the two. He is an Unforgettable and he was under Billy D, who is supposed to be "Ricky P Jr" so the fans will be on him about how he runs the type of system they like. Pelphrey is a more personable guy, as Ford can be a jerk at times, so Pelphrey seems the more likely fit.

I honestly think a Pelphrey or Ford would have been better for UK than BCG. With that said I think BCG will get things in proper order but it seems to me like UK needs someone that understands the tradition and the passion. Pelphrey was a home grown eastern Kentucky guy that understands what the teams means to all of us.

I don't care who coaches at UK as long as they win. I loved Pelfrey as a player and I would love him as a coach if he kept the Cats winning. I will give the same support to BCG as long as he is our coach.

I hope it's neither. I couldn't stand it if either one of them came in and didn't live up to "standards" but got a pass b/c they are Kentucky boys. If and when UK goes out to get another coach they should get another big name much like Kansas did with Bill Self or something like that.

I can't beleive this is even a thread. People have to realize that just because they played at UK doesn't give the God given right to coach there. Neither of these two(2) have showed themselves to be worthy of the UK coaching position. Ford done well with EKU and took them to the big dance. Pelphrey Hasn't done anything really outstanding yet. In my opinion there are much better coaches that will be a better choice whenever the Billy G days are over.
