Jags 31 Steelers 29

Hats off to Garrard for a fantastic game. It was difficult to get beat by what is essentially Kordell Stewart v3.0.

Garrard is a solid QB, he is light years ahead of Kordell.

That's why he's version 3.0.

Pittsburg losing makes up for Cincy not making the playoffs....

I have to agree with you on this one.:ylsuper:

Im glad thats what makes you bengals fans happy... PATHETIC... I was so glad to see my boys never give up in this game, they could have very easily said ok lets try again next year (Bengals motto for life) but they didnt and I am so proud of them but furthermore congrats to the Jags! Very tough to beat a team on the road twice in one year ecspecially us, I would love to see you guys win it all now. Overall I cant be dissapointed my team won the AFC NORTH and got beat by one of the hottest teams in football...

LOL

Big Ben gets a little bit of the Fault.

But you know how the old saying goes

Players win and Coaches Lose

Coach definetly screwed up. Ben's 3 picks and 1 fumble were also big. I also thought Del Rio screwed up with that challenge at the end. Parker out really hurt the Steelers also. Usually its not one thing but a plethora of mistakes that add up to a loss in the NFL

I agree the first one was bad, but you have to go for two the second time.

Which is what happens when you chase points...

Going for two is like the intentional walk in baseball--sometimes it works but mostly it comes back to bite you on the butt.

That's really sad, actually.

Yes it is.

The Steelers lost the game by being to conservative on their last possesion. They couldnt run the ball effectively all night. Ben had played exceptionally well the entire second half and Arians took the ball out of his hands on the final drive capped off by a QB keeper. I would love to see Hines Ward and Heath Miller involved in those plays. Hats off to both teams for an entertaining, hard fought game. :thumb:

Agreed. The QB keeper around the end was a horrible call. If nothing else Ben has to go North/South. That is really a bad loss for the Steelers. Division winner at home. Doesnt say much for the division.

Right but if he didn't try the first one(After a 5 yard penalty) he wouldn't have had to try the second one. :D

He chased points twice and lost by 2. I've been pointing out the ills of chasing points for almost a decade. Maybe Mr Epps should pay attention. Go Stealer's. See you next year...

I may be wrong but it looked like Del Rio threw the challenge flag there to keep from getting a delay of game penalty. The play clock was under 10 and he was going to have to burn a timeout anyway--might as well take a chance on getting lucky on a reversal.

I'm a big-picture kind of guy, so I'm actually quite at peace with what went down last night. Pretty much shrugged it off 15 minutes afterward, and I'm sure that the Louisville win earlier in the day helped lessen the pain.

What I saw this year:

Just like the last two times, the organization made a good choice on a head coach. His first season was wildly exceptional, given how most prognosticators picked Pittsburgh to finish behind the Ratbirds and Bengals in the division. It also looks nice in light of Steve Kragthorpe's first year at UofL.

Needs to address, all of which were magnified in this game:

Kick coverage (Jones' return is just one of many instances where returners punished the Steelers -- Cribbs first made his name against us.)

Offensive line (Roethlisberger got hammered in this game, just like all season. Depth needs to be shored up through the draft and Faneca is a must re-sign.)

Draft for depth at LB and DL (This would also help fix the kick coverage problem.)

I'm going to operate on the assumption that Parker will not be back on time. I am willing to give Najeh a shot as the full-time option for a season, if this is necessary. Wouldn't hurt to pick up a future starter in the 6th or 7th round, though.

I think the team can take some leftover anger from this and carry it over into next year. This team is one good draft away from getting back to the SB.

I would agree with this if they were in the NFC. I don't see 6-8 rookies being making them better than New England or Indy.

Where was the holding call on the first 2 point conversion that was just terrible n qb draw on 3rd n 5 that was even more of a terrible call. Can we get any more inventive on 3rd n 5 other than a qb draw that isnt that fast please tell me why u dont dump it off to Ward n Miller like you did all day long against the Jags.
