January 3, 200818 yr :thumb: Nail on the head. From what I hear, the verbal berating of the players in practice is relentless. By no means am I saying that I want the coach to be soft. I think you can tear them down and build em back up, but hardly any of the "building back up" is going on. Compliments/positive feedback in practice occurs about as often as snow in Hades. At some point, continued beatings without throwing the dog a bone everynow and then will lead to apathy. Don't you think CBC is trying to thin the ranks a tad with this verbal beating?? Either kids will quit or get tough. He knows that "his" kids are not there. He has very little to work with outside of Meeks, Jasper and PP. Crawford is like watching a one man show and Bradley has played out of position all year long. I think Bradley would fit in much better with coach if Jasper would have been available from the start... I think the berating has a purpose for CBC. Just because this coach has different philosophy, everyone is freaking out. Give it time... G

I can't speak to practice, as I haven't seen it, but I have definitely seen encouragement from BCG during games. I don't remember who it was, but BCG high-fived a guy coming to the bench during the FIU game. I also like the fact that when he pulls a guy, he usually takes time to talk to them about it when they come out.

You could have 6 - 5 Star recruits, all being at the 1 and 2. Would the team be talnted in one sense of the word Yes, would they be good, not unless you had a Lamar Odom, Kevin Durant, Tracy McGrady, and Magic Johnson in there.

Except there is talent at 4 of 5 positions on the floor. UK lacks a post presence outside Patterson, and I'm aware of that fact as I was pointing it out months ago...
January 3, 200818 yr The stars rank players based on talent. They don't rank them on "court smarts". This one of the dumbest teams I've seen assembled in terms of Basketball IQ. Scott Padgett wasn't the most blessed player athletically, but his court smarts put him in position to make the plays. The same for Cameron Mills, Wayne Turner, and Chuck Hayes. Crawford checked into a game last week and fouled on a 3-pointer within 30 seconds. Bradley's idiocy on the court is well-documented. Too many times the UK players look lost on the floor because they can't figure out where to be, or why the opposition is scoring. There are four things in basketball you can't coach -- speed, height, desire, and court IQ. You either have it coming in or you don't.
