I agree it would be fun to see what happened, but when some talk was made about moving up to 6 instead of 5A, it was quickly kaboshed....as the 6A district in N. Ky was already "full" (what were there, 5 teams in the district) and the KHSAA wasn't going to let it happen even if Highlands had asked. With Cooper coming on line next year, the situation doesn't get any better.

 

Besides, its a pretty big accomplishment winning the state championships playing up two classes. While I have nothing but respect for the Trinity program as it is first class all around, one thing that puts a special asterisk on the Highlands championships is that more than a couple have been obtained when we were playing up. And when we won championships when we weren't playing up, we were one of the smallest teams in the class. I would think a lot of Trinity's championships were won when they were one of the larger teams in their class and of course none were obtained playing up.

 

 

 

I was thinking the same thing LN. Anytime you play up two classes and come in and take a very fine BG team out you are making a statement. If Highlands had the numbers that ST. X or Trinity have, it would be scary. Even with the limited number of students that pass through those doors every year in Ft.Thomas, they get the best out of everyone of them. I personally thought this year's squad could have given Cincy St. X a run for their money.

Very impressive Highlands....I am glad we get to stay one ahead for one more year . . . I hope that we can get each other scheduled soon, it would be an awesome home and home.

Depth might be a small problem vs X...I don't remember the exact number, but it was very close to 75...That is SENIORS on the Bombers team!

I'm not too concerned about Cincy ST X. I would have liked to have had a shot at Louisville ST X as they have handed the Birds losses the last couple of seasons. Alot of the Birds seniors participated in those losses so there would have been a revenge factor there. Everyone can say what they want but 15-0 Ky AAAAA State Champions, sounds sweet to me.
