Dont forget SS. A State Champion. I just want to say congrats to all of the guys and be the first to welcome them into a really special fraternity at Highlands. They will never ever forget it, no one can ever take that great accomplishment away from them and they can feed off of their feat and continue to win in life. :thumb:

 

Wow!!!! nothing like a little pressure for your 2 sons to win State Championships to be in your special fraternity I sure hope they don't fail!!!!

Update on Terry O's injury:

 

One of the Bird seniors told me that the ankle, thankfully, is not broken but there is much ligament damage. A decision on surgery is expected within a week.

One comment I want to make about Coach Wallace. Not only is he a great coach, he's not a whiner either. I haven't heard one whiny comment from him about Highlands shouldn't have been able to move up from 3A to 5A and that if the KHSAA wouldn't have permitted it, they'd be the 5A champs. Furthermore, I haven't read one post to that effect from any of the BG fans. While I've always had a ton of respect for Wallace and the BG program/fans, the respect factor has gone even higher as a result.

Nice post LN! I read and re-read newspaper articles. Coach Wallace was a gentleman in defeat. Said all the right things regarding his players and the footballers on the HHS squad. A true class act. Hope other coaches are paying attention...

Coach Wallace was on our local radio station yesterday and was very complimentary of HHS. HE was most impressed with the athleticism of the offensive line. HE also stated he had seen very few teams with speed at every single position on the field like HHS showed. At the high school level their are usually one or two kids even on great teams that are a step or two slow. The radio show host finally had to ask who coach Wallace thought was the best team in the state. He diplomatically stated Trinity's offense was the best that they had seen by far and HHs had the best defense that they had seen. He wouldn't pick a winner but said it would be one heck of a game! Congrat's to the birds on a great season. Don't know if BGHS will make it to the finals next year but I wouldn't bet against them. The last three BGHS senior classes have been extremely athletic even by BGHS standards. They have alittle bit of a drop in talent until their current 8th grade class comes along and they are absolutely loaded with athletes. All I know is next years state champion is already working their hind ends off right now.

Thanks for the info. And based on everything I know and have heard about Coach Wallace, I'm not the least bit surprised about the classy and complimentary things he said about Highlands. I'm sure the folks in BG know it, but you've got one darn fine coach there. I hope BG makes it back to the Box next year. I feel very, very good about Highlands chances of making it back the next two years, but you never know.
