November 25, 200718 yr I guess if you wanna look at things pessimisticly then that is your opinion. But I like our look on the diamond. Hamilton, assuming he stays has a lot of upside. Keppinger has a lot of upside. If Phillips and E-5 bring their games up even just a tad bit this is a very solid offense. Also have a lot of flexibility on the diamond with Kepp, Gonzo, Phillips, Hopper and Hatte. Our pitching situation is not as horrid as it was in the past. Harang and Arroyo should be good for 30 combined wins. Bailey and Belisle can win 10-15 games each. We don't know who the other starter is. Maybe we spend some more money and bring in a good arm. The Reds will have a lot to spend on an arm come next year with Griffeys contract going (I believe it's up at least). Maybe we spend early. Cordero should help the worst bullpen in the league. You gotta hope they turn things around. I bet Diamondback fans weren't expecting a playoff team either last year. Oh so if we just "hope" things get better, then they will. November 25, 200718 yr I like the deal. Harang would have been a 20 game winner if we had a consistent closer/setup. IMO, the season will hinge on our starting pitching. We assume Harang will remain the stud he's been, maybe even exceed what he's done and be a legit Cy Young candidate. Arroyo needs to avoid his concert tour swoon. Bailey has to contribute in a big way. Belisle has to be at least .500. That's alot of "ifs" for us to be that hopeful IMO. Offense won't really matter if we don't have quality starting pitching. So I won't mention that we need E-5 to play like he did after the middle of June, not before. Or that we need Ross to his above .150 for the first 2 months of the season. Oh, I could go on, but I digress.

Belisle won 8 games last year in his first year of starting. He is only 26 though. Certainly I rather the Reds spend more money and get a better arm, bu this is a small market team as they have told us over and over. Winning 10 games is a fair and achieveable goal for both of them.
