And just to add proof to that, it turns out that Rockmom's dad was told that he had no coronary blockage whatsoever! From what I've read, this happens in less than 5% of people who undergo cardiac catheterization. So with her dad being 75 years old, it really is amazing. They say that his mild heart attack was due to his elevated blood pressure. He has had blood pressure trouble for years, but hadn't treated it properly. Now it had gotten to the point of harming his kidneys. As I understand it, the kidney damage helped lead to his heart attack. The irony of all this is that the doctors say his heart attack probably saved his life. Kidney disease is a silent killer. Often, you don't have a single symptom until the damage is very severe. Then your systems begin to lose function rapidly. His high blood pressure would have eventually caused him to have a stroke, had he not had this heart trouble. So, in a way, you could say he's a very lucky man. He's going to be hospitalized for at least a few more days. They need to get his BP stabilized and have it stay down for a certain amount of time. Then he can go home. All in all, this could have been much worse, and the Rockmom family has a lot to be thankful for this year! :thumb:
