St. X, on paper, is the better team by far. Yet it is a pretty long ride to Marshall County. Marshall County fans will pack the stadium. I also hope the officiating is done by referees not from that area and that are very objective. When a Louisville team like St. X goes to play in a place like Marshall Country sometimes a team is up against more than just the players on the other team.

I was on the 1995 team that played Marshall county in the Semi-state game. The state of Kentucky hadn't seen a cloud in the sky for 10 days leading up to the game yet the Marshall county field was a mudpit come game time. That Marshall county team was a pound-the-ball offense and iron curtain defense. Can't imagine where all that moisture came from...I think the field grass received a little extra "TLC" prior to the game to help even out the speed differential.

whats up with everyone cheap-shotting Marshall Co....the refs here are biased and they water their field down before games so they have an advantage......????????

Actually I am a little peeved at the inference that "Marshall County" referees will alter the game ( and that the filed will be watered down). As mentioned before, the referees are assigned by the KHSAA based on nominations from each region. The referees will be from another assigning secretary/region. Marshall County has a long history of success on the football field and has had a great season so far.

 

Obviously they have a pretty good golf team, too.

The day of the 1995 semifinals, I watched Mayfield beat Harrodsburg, then went over to watch the Marshall-St. Xavier game. Best I remember, it was cold and wet at Mayfield, too.
