This should be one of many interesting matchups in the third round of the playoffs this year. A four hour trip to face Tony Franklin's O. The Tiger D better be ready.

Marshall's O better be the one that is ready. Speed kills.

At 9-3, how good can the offense be? Trinity's is the best I' ve seen, and we stopped it.

No disrepect intended, but what was Marshall's schedule? How many 6A schools, or contenders in other divisions did they play? What about Size and depth? How many go both ways? Anybody?

Actually in all due respect, the best offense ( record setting!) is Lone Oaks with 652 points scored followed by Bowling Green at 621 then Somerset at 559.

The best defense is Bell County at 83 points given up followed by the St X at 93 and Owensboro at 98.

What kind of place is Marshall County?? Do tell........

I hope both teams play well. I hope all the players stay injury free. I stand to be addressed. I could have chosen better words.

Marshall County is 3 plus hours away from Louisville. Marshall County is in a rural area. In Kentucky, the Golden Triangle is defined as “an economic region in Kentucky which contains most of the state's population, wealth and population growth. In 2005 the Triangle had an estimated population of 2,253,876; which is 54% of Kentucky's population on 22% of the state's land area. Areas across the Ohio River from Louisville and Northern Kentucky are also metropolitan, making the Golden Triangle part of a greater urban area with almost 5 million people.” Unfortunately, sometimes these differences in economics and populations can create barriers within the state. Sometimes people, on both sides of this triangle, can act or speak with prejudice. I have been in situations before, with travel baseball, where a good Louisville team plays in a tournament in rural town. The draw of the tournament, time of games, and (in my opinion) officiating seems to have been influenced. I would rather bridge these barriers than create a bigger one. I will accept the hospitality of Marshall County, the welcome of their community, and the fairness of the officiating.

Is there anybody out there who can enlighten us on Marshall?

I know nothing about Marshall Co., but I cannot imagine a scenario whereby X loses... I believe they could go without Finch, and without throwing a pass the entire game and still win by 30.

Marshall County is a solid team both offensively and defensively. They are led by all everything back #3 Alan Williams who if you let him will take over a contest...no matter who he plays. Williams is also extremely strong in his legs and you will need more than one tackler to bring him down as I have seen him play several times throughout his career and not once have I seen the first tackler bring him down...that and he always seems to fall forward when tackled. Now can he single handedly beat a team such as X...no...but the Marshals do have some other playmakers including #4 Brandon Walker a very good change of pace running back. The QB #2 Barga is an accurate passer who if you let him sit back in the pocket will pick you apart all night long. He is also good at scrambling and keeping his head up for an open receiver. He is not someone that will make you go "WOW" what a QB...but at the end of the night you look up and he has over 150 yards and a couple of TD's.

Defensively the Marshals are not that big, but very fast and close the gap quickly. They seem to get very good pressure on the QB and are very good tacklers. They also have a good kicking game to go along with it.

Will Marshall County win the game...no....but if X comes down expecting a cakewalk then they could be in for a long night in Draffenville.

And for the person referring to the officiating...officials for the playoffs are assigned from the KHSAA from a different conference from the two teams playing...so if you have a problem with the officiating take it up with the KHSAA. Most teams both home and away usually have problems with officials from different regions during playoffs.

Good luck to both teams and hopefully win or lose...both teams come out healthy. And to the ST. X fans have a safe trip to western Kentucky...wish that I could see this game but will be on my way to call the Mayfield-Frankfort game in Frankfort.

Thanks for your overview...

Ditto, sounds like the Tigers must stop the run first and make them beat you passing! Must get pressure on the QB and pick off a few! Go X

What kind of crowd is St. X expecting to have?

I hope the score doesn't reflect the voting ...

If Marshall stays within three touchdowns, they've played a heck of a game.

What kind of crowd is St. X expecting to have?

I haven't heard, but they travel very well. Over 1000 went to Bowling Green and Hopkinsville previously. Expect 3 or 4 buses, plus cars.

Right now it looks like there will be 4 busses plus cars. The fact that this game fell on the Holiday weekend may affect St. X followers. Many of the fans I know have long standing family plans for the weekend and may not be able to attend.
