He plays in a balanced offense that runs a lot but sheer talent wise, Clint Cashen of Corbin has been the most consistent Quarterback over the past 4 years. I would say he is the best QB in KY but not having outlandish numbers could keep him from this award. However if he stays solid through the playoffs and Corbin wins 2A, he could make a legit case. The Redhounds are 10-1 and won 10 in a row since losing to Belfry to open the season. Here are Clints numbers to date.

Alright, I am going to throw a name in there for consideration, because without any clear cut favorites I think he at least deserves the recognition:

 

Belfry 6'3 220 FB/LB Dustin May

 

After watching May outshine Somerset's superstar John Cole Friday I believe this kid needs at least some consideration. May has been a 1000 yard rusher the past three seasons from the fullback position, something that is rarely seen nowadays. May has also led Belfry to the State Semi-Finals all three years, including a 13-0 record this season and a #1 ranking. Additionally, may has been able to achieve the 100 yard mark these past three seasons, all the while sharing the backfield with fellow 1000 yard rushers every season. He has also been a 3 year starter at Middle Linebacker for Belfry, and anchors one of the state's best defenses regardless of class. He has been dominant in every big game including victories over such ranked teams as Corbin, Pikeville, Sheldon Clark, Somerset, and Johnson Central. He has outshined some of the state's best players in thsoe games including John Cole (Somerset), Adam Dials (Sheldon Clark), Shawn Grimm (Johnson Central), Clint Cashen (Corbin), and Daniel Harmon (Pikeville).

 

May has been phenominal this season despite missing two games completely and only playing partially in another game with an injury. May also has only seen action in the second half only a handful of times due to Belfry's margin of victory, yet he has still compiled these numbers:

 

(11 games) 150 carries, 1475 yards, 25 Total TD

 

That's 134.1 ypg, 9.8 yards per carry, and a TD every 6 carries.

 

May has received quite a bit of interest from UK, but will more than likely not be offered a scholarship due to the lack of available schollies UK has to offer. Nonetheless, he has garnered quite a bit of interest from numerous other D-1A and 1-AA schools and will be playing ball somehwere on Saturday's.

 

I know it is usually a longshot for someone from Eastern Kentucky to take this award, but this kid is a valid candidate for what he has doen against quality competition and the success his team has enjoyed on the statewide level, and not your typical stat piler from playing weak teams. IMO, there are very few, if any, two-way players that can stack up to the way may dominates the game on both sides of the football.

My two top choices would be Cory Farris from Boone or John Cole from Somerset

Loan Oaks QB has led his team to an undefeated season so far and broke the national record for td passes....i think ive seen were hes thrown 86 tds and only 4 ints this, season those numbers are unbelieveable. Hes my choice win or lose the 4A state title

Throw Clay Cecil, SR QB from Highlands into the mix. Navigated the Bluebird juggernaut to an undefeated regular season and hopefully # 17 !! ESPECIALLY if you factor in value to the team and off field character. MR. FOOTBALL for the STATE should represent more than just stats. (JMO)

 

It's pretty easy to have a good season at QB whe every team you play is playing the run to avoid Conner burning them for 200 yards per game. Also it was Conner that carried that team to 10-0.

Who are the favorites for Mr. Football...it seems to me nobody has really stood out....

 

I will start with someone who likely won't make the finals but his stats, especially with the competition he's gone against, ought to give him a shot...

 

William Stein (QB) - Trinity - 187/262 - 71.4% - 2,664 - 37 td's - 4 int's - 45 car - 139 yards - 3.1 ypc - - - - - - - - sidenote: William threw 3 int's against the GCL's finest Cincy St. Xavier...

Thanks, I will say if William ends up with 3,800 yards, 55 TD's and only 4 int's, AND a 6A state championship, it would be hard to argue with...I know what Robinson has done is statistically amazing, but how can we guage the ability of who he's gone against. Is he going to win state?
