Anyone heard anything else about this job?...seems to me Madison Southern's adminstration is dragging their feet a little hiring there new coach. The kids have been in the weightroom all winter and are getting stronger but interviews don't start until FEB 2. Spring ball could be a little difficult by waiting this long on a hire.

It it my understanding that it was the plan all along to take applications until Feb. 1. They are now in the process of calling all of the applicants to see if they are still interested.

Heard Clay Co's coach is throwing his name around this job and others anyone else heard this?

I doubt that anyone is throwing North or South's coaches names around any job. From what I understand, they both hung on to their job by the skin of their teeth.:lol:

When you have a program like this I fill that you have to hire someone that will come in and be a dictator not a negotiator. Thats how these two men above run there programs. They are the captain, if you dont like the direction the ship is going they gladly show you the door. They do not compromise the character or credibility of the program for no bad eggs.

What about the coach from Clay Co. is he not from that area. He seems to do a good job at Clay which is a basketball school.

Coach Stepp is from Whitesburg I think. He was the coach at Berea Community for a few years.

Poynter may be a good choice. He was asst. and is from Rockcastle and worked with Coach Hilton at Bourbon. Worked under 2 of the best coaches in the state. Poynter has also had success as a head coach at Pike Central and turned Trimble Co. in a 180 very quickly.

I know this is a stretch, but what about Jay Cobb at Somerset. He took then turned down the Henderson job to stay at Somerset for his son's Sr year. Now he has graduated. Cobb has coaching roots in Eastern KY ( not that Mad. South. is that much more east than Somerset). He has had success at Somerset. What do you guys think?

Is there any truth to a rumor I heard about a KY college (maybe Georgetown) Defensive Coordinator (I think) applying for the Madison Southern position? Anybody heard any fresh rumors on this spot? I know that with it being a pretty well paid position there has to be some really interesting ones being thrown into the mix. I'm not from there but, have some interest in what happens. I live just outside that area. I would add that from what I know of Mark Scenters, he would be an excellent hire. He's been a big part of Madison Central for quite a while, and it would be nice to see a hard working assistant finally get his break. Wasn't he in the running for one of the Laurel jobs a few years ago??

 

The only other name that has come up on this site has been Brumley. From what I know, Brumley does have a strong football mind and seems to know his X's and O's, but I could understand the argument about starting fresh there.

 

Whats going on with Georgetown I hear one of the coaches also applied for the Scott High job. Are they having problems there.

I have also heard Cobb's name mentioned for this job. I heard that he even had interest the last time the job was open. I think unless an established head coach like Cobb is in the hunt then Mark Scenters has to be strongly considered.

You'd figure he'd want to stay around with that stud QB. Is the kid still there? Wasn't he like the untouchable QB the 2006 season? Anway, Feb. is rolling around, and that is supposed to be interview time, from what I've heard, so we'll finally be able to put this one to rest. It has been fun speculating though.
