Everyone expected big things from Clay when they moved into a different district but they continued to flop in district play. Maybe looking for a change?

That's got to be a serious disappointment for Clay, that kid put up some eye-popping numbers a couple of years ago....

 

So it seems like from my perspective the Southern spot and the Harlan county spot has gotten the most attention and ruckus going. The Scott job has caused quite a stir as well.

 

I hope they given one of these assistant coaches that have been mentioned, their shot. I feel like 3 of them are really wanting this one, and I hope the best choice really is made.

Expectations are on the rise in Clay County when it comes to football. Other than a few ignorant locals that consider the Tigers a "flop in district play", most realistic supporters are somewhat patiently waiting for that district/region championship.

 

A good cycle of athletes are poised to come through Clay over the next 5 years, I look for Stepp to be their coach. For all I know, he may leave tomorrow...I'd be very surprised though.

I am hearing Johnny Poynter from Trimble Co. He also was at Pike Central and was a assistant at Rockcastle.

Coach Stepp used to coach at Berea, so this is a logical choice. He would be a great choice. He has Clay competing and had Berea in the playoffs. He would win at Mad South

I think he does a solid job and would be a good choice.:thumb:

Stepp was fortunate to get away from the Bell, Rock, Knox district. Why would he want to go back?

It is hard to keep a good B-ball coach there let along a good football coach. I would have to say though that football is definitely on the rise in the big CC.

This is SUPPOSED to be about football at Madison Southern, not Basketball....just kidding.

 

I am curious...with the apparent lack of success last year with the Franklin system at Madison Southern, do you think they would go with a spread style coach, or some other system? I feel like you gotta match your system to what will make your kids the most successful. Don't know if MS has the athletes for their previous year's offense...

 

Just food for thought that we could debate about until they make their decision and this one gets closed.

Did they run the Franklin system?

Partially.You have to have receivers that can catch the ball. Southern successfully ran the Franklin system the previous year but then graduated 5 guys that made great receivers....just needed to catch. Those guys were missed this year. Also no running back at all.

I think they will have very few players in number and in talent.
