I just don't understand all the hatred for Ohio State from "some" UK fans, some others I perfectly well understand it .

 

I am also a U.K. and SEC fan - I just happen to be a Ohio State Football fan as well.

So...from a U.K. fan to others, lighten up on the hatred or if not hatred eagerness to jump on a top program. All of that junk reminds me of is how people like to jump on U.K. basketball and enjoy them losing. Think about it, U.K. fans doing this is no better, is the same - Do not lower yourselves to some others levels:rolleyes:.

 

Before anyone jumps on me for or brings up my dislike of "some" programs I will remind them that it has absolutely nothing to do with where those programs are ranked, I have never like a couple of these programs in any sport and never will, be it they win em' all or lose em' all............end of story;).

 

I feel a lot of this talk is just bc some cannot stand or are not able to deal with other's sucsess and/or traditions.

I'm a big U.K. fan as I have posted on this site many of times over the years. I just have to give some a check of the real world when they bash Ohio State. It does not happen very often because they do not make a habit of coming up short on the scoreboard like so many other teams do.:ylsuper:

I don't hate OSU I am just glad we are going to get some deserving teams into the NC game. It will just save you guys from getting embarrassed by someone in the NC game anyways.

I wonder if ESPN is scrambling to find another locale for GameDay next week. The game in Ann Arbor just doesn't have as much luster now.

I wanted Ohio State and anyone but with what is left I will take the Ducks.

I just do not want anyone from the SEC to take it(That would be different if the Cats were playing in it)

I disagree........Both teams are coming off losses..plus this is a rival playing another rival! This game has BCS hopes all over it! College Gameday will be there..I think...they should anyway.

Well I'm sure they will or Herbstreit will pout and fuss all week. I'm just wondering if there is a better game out there.

I told my dad and brother in law that I felt like if OSU would lose then it would be today. Seems like the spread offense with a QB that is athletic is a major thorn in their side. It was a great game. I think the Illini deserved the win after putting together that championship kind of drive the last series.

I am amused by 'fans' of a certain team, who then wish for victories by

that team's conference vs. teams/conferences they supposedly 'hate'

or don't see their 'teams' compete against on a regular basis.

 

When such victories happen, there is a lot of crowing as if 'their' league or

conference has demonstrated superiority vs. the team they don't care for.

 

This seems to typically happen when the 'team' the 'fan' supports loses on

a fairly consistent basis to the other teams in 'their league/conference', but

all of the sudden is willing to 'take credit' for a team from 'their' league (other than their own) or experiencing a victory vs. a team from another conference.

 

Most Ohio State football fans wouldn't walk across the street to watch

Arkansas play Ole Miss. Nor would, say, Kentucky fans do likewise to watch

Purdue play Indiana. But the fun's in the arguing the point, any way.

cvillecat, I just wanted to extend a thank you for representing the Buckeyes so well. :thumb: It's nice to see one of their fans has a voice of reason.

I'd say thats 2% of it.

 

The other 98% is that everyone feels THIS tOSU team is NOT a top team. Its the same thing with BC. They just haven't looked that great, and were only undefeated by way of playing a relatively weak schedule.

 

Add to that the fact that all the tOSU fans were acting like this was the greatest team of all time and just couldn't fathom why anyone would question their #1 ranking.

 

So now, it all shakes out. We all get to say "I told you so." (While many of the tOSU fans criticize teams that nobody ever claimed were #1.)

Illinois appears to be no cupcake at 8-3, but, as you stated, they sure did look like a great team today... spread offense in the big ten... what's up with that? Not to be a smart "butt"; however, the SEC style Illinois seems to have learned something... as in how to beat the big ten powers (at least for today).

 

I agree that Illinois is no cupcake and I think the reason is Ron Zook. IMO he is one of the better recruiters in the game and a much better coach than what people think. Illinois seems to be a great fit for him and he has surrounded himself with quality coaches as well.

Very far from fraud Schue, imo the only thing that has been exposed (once again) this season is the amount of hatred for a top traditional program like tOSU Buckeyes.

And yes, they were a fraud posing as the best team in the nation. I know it hurts to see one of your 50 favorite college teams lose, but please deal with reality.

 

Now, Congrats to Illinois - Ohio State was beaten today, no excuses..no whining or crying. Illinois and R. Zook suprised me today by the way they threw the football. Zook is an excellent coach. At the first of the season I did not think that the Buckeyes were a national championship team. Then after a number of "supposedly top teams" losing and not taking care of what was in front of them I thought that they (Buckeyes) may get a shot. We will have to see how far they fall in the polls when some other game results roll in tonight.

 

I don't know who will be at #1 now, probably Oregon or LSU.

 

I do know that the Buckeyes can still win the Big10 Championship next week at that big hole in the ground up North .

 

I just got back in from being gone most of the day and am logging on to have my serving of crow. Illinois beat my Buckeyes today, no if, ands or buts about it. We got beat. The Illini didn't have to be the best team all season, the just had to be the best team today.....and they were.

 

The Ohio State Buckeye Football Nation is not going anywhere and imo will be back for a NC run next season (considering as young as they are this season). Hopefully the Buckeyes can go out next Saturday and bring home what I believe will be their 32nd, maybe 33rd Big 10 Conference Title.

OSU defense had no answer for the ILL running game. That was as close to a perfect game as you will ever see one team play. ILL had what 1 penalty and no turnovers and had Boeckman off his game all afternoon.

 

Boeckman was playing well until he threw the first INT. It seemed that he lost focus after that and Illinois changed their defensive scheme. The thing that stood out to me was that Illinois matched OSU in their physical play.

OSU also is in dire need of someone to return kicks. Very poor showing by the Bucks in that dept.
