Nice game by Illinois; I was talking smack early last week about how Illnois did not stand a chance. Their QB looked great and made big plays down the stretch. As for the Bucks, the season is not over and the BCS title game still is not out of the picture. The team up north is next and with a win there they will wrap up their third straight Big 10 title and play in no worse then the Rose Bowl - not to mention a fourth straight win over the team up north.

Boeckman was playing well until he threw the first INT. It seemed that he lost focus after that and Illinois changed their defensive scheme. The thing that stood out to me was that Illinois matched OSU in their physical play.

OSU also is in dire need of someone to return kicks. Very poor showing by the Bucks in that dept.

Tressell made a major mistake calling time out when they were in punt formation.

 

As for the UK fans how many losses do you have? Thats right shhh.

 

Time to go to Michigan if we win we are still in it.. I said all year two teams with 1 loss are in the championship.

I expected it to be a battle. I felt the Illini offense created some match up problems for the Bucks, but I didn't think my Illini would pull it out at The Shoe. Good luck this week at Michigan. Hope you guys can beat that team from up north.

All I can say is "the best defense in the country" sure looked good today. I think Juice Williams made the all-america 1st team today. (okay just joking, they did make him look like a star though)

I do hate OSU. It's nothing more than the fact that they are like Notre Dame, their usually ranked higher than they should be. In all honesty, everyone knows they weren't the best team in the country. I also hate that every year SOME fans claim that they are some great team, and no one could beat them. LSU, ORegon, and Oklahoma would all have their way with them as would UF if Tebow was healthy, and Kansas would probably take them. I'm not jealous of their success, plenty of other programs have just as much or much success and prestige than them that I don't hate. Tressell is one of the best coaches in the country, and they always have a good team, but shouldn't be a top 3 team year in year out, because no team is.

We may be seeing a changing of the guard in the Big 10 as early as next year. Illinois would have to be considered a front runner for the conference title next year along with OSU. They recruit athletes, Juice is just a sophomore, Mendelhall a junior, and Benne is a freshman and an absolute freak.

As for OSU fans hating on UK fans...we are terrible to mediocre almost every year. So naturally in the years we do good we do tend to get excited. It's hard to build a top tier program in the SEC, so we just have to take the good years with the bad. But, OSU losing doesn't make us feel any better about our team. I agree with most of the post I have read on here. I wanted them to lose because they were a fraud, and didn't deserve to be in the National Title. Oregon and LSU, and Oklahoma are all better.

 

 

IMO Zook is actually a year ahead of schedule. I know he expected this years team to be better, but I don't think he expected things to come together this well until next year. He can flat out recruit, and will have a team loaded with talent and speed. Illinois blew the game against the Squawkeyes, and played horribly against Michigan. Both winable games. Freshman and sophmores can make you look like a great coach at times, and other times they let you know that they are freshmen and sophmores.

 

Personally, this has been a great year in the Coldweather household. 1 UK alum and 1 Illini alum. We're going to be in Florida at Christmas. If they both win out, may be we'll be able to go watch them play each other in the Outback Bowl.

Brian Brohm is leaps and bounds better than any QB that you remember guiding your beloved Buckeyes.

 

You and GT might want to read post in there full length. I said they have similar characteristics. I never said he was better, infact I said Brohm was hands down better. However, if you look at Boeckman in his first year of starting this year, and Brohms sophomore year they look similar. Brohm has been playing 3.5 years of college football... not many QB's in college are gonna be better when you combine that experience and skill. I am simply using Brohm as the template cause I believe he is the best this year.
