Whether or not that games were out of reach or not with him (Robinson) still in the game does not imo take away from his accomplishment. The young man still had to throw the football and complete the pass.

 

I will say that there may be a question of "class" in running up the score and imo that would fall upon the coach for having his starter in the game that late when it (game) has been decided and/or still passing the ball.

This imo is a classless act by the coach & staff but not the kid. He was doing his job.

Looking at Highlands' schedule from that year (1998), two scores jump out. Lone Oak hasn't beaten anyone 72-7 and 88-12 ...

No classless act has occurred. Just wanting to stay sharp and instill in his players to play the entire 48 minutes. The Patriots have been accused of running the score this season too but in their previous game with the Colts, they played the full length of the game like they had been used to and came out victorious.

For those out there that believe Lone Oak isn't a legitimate contender, they're in for a rude awakening. Granted, there schedule hasnt been good, but, they have beaten a few quality teams in Caldwell Co, Fulton City, Calloway Co and Hopkins Central and if you combine these 4 scores, it's pretty impressive. I believe they are considerably better than some of the traditional powers like Hoptown, Tilghman, Mayfield and Imo, they could beat Marshall Co, Graves Co & Ft Campbell, although, I think they could lose to them, as well, but, would be favored against each. Any of those teams mentioned would be considered strong contenders in 4a, so, I see no reason why Lone Oak would be any different. From the teams someone else posted that would be

potential matchups to get to state, I like the Purple flashes chances against any of them.

It would have been interesting to see a Mayfield-Lone Oak matchup. I don't think Lone Oak would be able to put up a lot of points against Mayfield, with Mayfield playing ball control for most of the game and keeping Robinson off the field. But from what I have heard, Lone Oak has a solid run defense this year and they did hold Fulton City to a touchdown I believe which does say something for their run defense.

Assuming they get past Calloway again.....they would face either Marion Co., Bullitt East, or North Bullitt.....All three are solid.......Marion Co. and Bullitt East are the favorites with NBullitt right behind them. If they even make it past these teams, then they would potentially face Warren East, Valley, or Fairdale..........who knows, we will see.
