Assuming they get past Calloway again.....they would face either Marion Co., Bullitt East, or North Bullitt.....All three are solid.......Marion Co. and Bullitt East are the favorites with NBullitt right behind them. If they even make it past these teams, then they would potentially face Warren East, Valley, or Fairdale..........who knows, we will see.

 

And as I said, I like there chances against any of these teams...I'm not saying they will roll through these teams, but, I feel they will cause matchup problems and have a better than average chance against any of them...

It would have been interesting to see a Mayfield-Lone Oak matchup. I don't think Lone Oak would be able to put up a lot of points against Mayfield, with Mayfield playing ball control for most of the game and keeping Robinson off the field. But from what I have heard, Lone Oak has a solid run defense this year and they did hold Fulton City to a touchdown I believe which does say something for their run defense.

Lone Oak's run defense is pretty solid, and given the Cardinals' secondary issues ... I suspect the Flash would put plenty of points on the board.

I think Lone Oak is at least a touchdown better than Calloway, but we'll see how the rematch goes. With home-field advantage and no dominant team on the western side of 4A, Lone Oak could make a run at Louisville.

I'm not sure why you feel this way...I'm a Mayfield fan and they can play with anyone when they're on there game, but, at the same time, when you compare common opponents, it's not even close, Lone Oak wins hands down. Mayfield really stepped up the pass defense in that game and I believe that Mayfield can stop a passing team if they really wanted to, we were giving the Calloway guys a ton of room to run their routes and they killed us, but if you notice in the caldwell game we were playing right on em and making the plays. I just think it would be a close game, probably a lot like the calloway-lone oak game.

You are right, too bad Mayfield and Lone Oak couldn't get scheduled, from the way they have played, it would have been a great test for Mayfield's secondary and Lone Oak going into the playoffs.

In addition, Mayfields run offense hasn't been that consistent either. They definately don't have the stud RBs that Fulton City threw at them. Now Calloway did move the ball pretty well on them, but, that was because they could beat you with the pass and you have to respect it. They had quite a few yards on the ground. The Cards don't have the scary air attack to keep you from crowding 9 in the box, so, I really couldn't see this philosophy working too well. Now if they made a few big plays through the air early, it may work, but, that would be the only way..

Calloway didn't run the ball effectively on Lone Oak at all. You could make a case that one reason the Lakers blew their second-half lead is that they got away from throwing the ball to keep the clock going, but they couldn't sustain anything on the ground.

I'm not exactly sure what the stats were in the game, but, I believe they had somewhere in the 100 to 150 range rushing. I think they also had close to 300 passing. However, I could be wrong, but, thats what I think I remember seeing..

Rushing yards were somewhere in the 60-70 range ... Willis was held to under 20.

My point being that their run defense hasn't been tested....Fulton City doesn't have as great a rushing offense as advertised(against Mayfield, the majority of williams yards came on one play of like 40-50 yards, I think). With a healthy Logan Armstrong, I would put my money on mayfield because he makes plays with his arm and his feet. But with an inexperienced Luke Guhy back there I would no doubt pick Lone Oak.

My belief is based on what I've seen. I have seen Mayfield at their best (the Graves County and Caldwell County games) and I've seen Lone Oak in their toughest game. I feel that Lone Oak is the better team.
