Hasn't "Oops, my bad" pretty much been the slogan for the UL defense this year? Stop UCONN and the play isn't a factor.

Did they issue a press release on the punt that bounced of UL's Carter and UConn recovered on the 1, only to have them give the ball to UL?

 

Seriously? I think we watched that 15 times, and there are only two people that really know.....it was way to hard to tell....

Mighty MO is a mother, and it was clearly gone after that non play. I do not think that play cost U of L the game, BUT if it hadn't happened, I am confident that they wouldn't have lost.

Agree with everyone saying that it was not the only thing that lead to the loss. But this is a huge injustice that the play was allowed.

 

Especially considering that 1) The player pulled that stunt intentionally to deceive the defense and 2) the official knew in advance what the kid was going to do and then sat back and watched it happen.

Bad (Horrible) call....but like the announcers said, play to the whistle.

 

The only problem with this statement is that the times have changed. Years ago, you played until you heard a whistle. Now-a-days, if you play until the whistle you risk the chance of a personal foul. Refs are taught to refrain from blowing a quick whistle until they are sure the play is over. This results in a few seconds delay between the time the ball is dead and the whistle.

If I were Taylor or Edsell I would not comment on this issue ever again, both now have shown a complete lack of sportsmanship and character. They are an embarrassment to the Big East, UConn, and most importantly themselves. I am now cool with U of L's loss, but they changed the composure of a football game by doing something that is completely against the rules, and then failing to OWN it afterwards. That's what's really tragic.

Being down by 17, or being down by 10, which gives you a lot more confidence that you can make it a ball game, especially when it's obvious whose side the refs are on?

Thats impossible to do in that situation. I mean if a guys calls fair catch and you hit him, then its going to be a penalty on you. In that situation as a player, you got to have faith that the refs would actually know what they were doing when a guy calls fair catch...

Supposedly he told one of the officials that he was going to do something along these lines and the official told him "you have to raise you hand high enough for me to see it" before the play.

Something tells me he won't try that this week. With the way the Bulls like to collect stupid 15 yard penaties, this guy best make his intentions really clear, or he may just end up carrying his head off the field under his arm.
