October 21, 200718 yr This is also a prime reason for why no one but official staff should be allowed on or near the sidelines. I even hate to think what could have happened if calmer heads didn't prevail. Amen to that!
October 21, 200718 yr I saw coverage of the game and it did look to me like he did strike the player. The entire thing was caught on tape so it should be easy to decide if or what official charges will be brought on him.
October 22, 200718 yr I don't know if it's the same person I saw on Friday's highlights but there was a man that looked to be peeling a player off of another player, seemed harmless but when the player reached his feet it looked as if the man's right arm swung down, could have possibley been from the momentum of the pull. It didn't connect, and I don't think he actually meant harm, but other adults on the field started to point at the man and the refs appeared to have thrown him out.

October 22, 200718 yr If the man actually struck the Garrard player shouldn't he be charged with assault/battery? No. To be found guilty of assault, you have to prove actual physical injury. The worst they could do would be a charge of menacing, which is a class "B" misdeanor.
October 22, 200718 yr Perhaps it would be good to ban someone who does something like this from attending any school functions and/or being on school property for the duration of their child's remaining time in high school. I think that would send a pretty strong message to other out of control fans.
October 22, 200718 yr I think it's time to restrict ALL persons not involved in the game to the bleacher area ONLY. Schools allow people to stand on the track or around the field & that just breeds opportunity for these things to happen. Keep all the fans in the stands & away from players, coaches, refs, etc...
