I am going to go out on a limb and say that the the 50 yr old man that ran on the field probably had a few adult beverages in his system.

I don't know if it's the same person I saw on Friday's highlights but there was a man that looked to be peeling a player off of another player, seemed harmless but when the player reached his feet it looked as if the man's right arm swung down, could have possibley been from the momentum of the pull. It didn't connect, and I don't think he actually meant harm, but other adults on the field started to point at the man and the refs appeared to have thrown him out.

Yeah, it really doesn't matter if he was throwning punches, breaking up a fight or reading a newspaper he shouldn't have been on the field PERIOD. Altercations should be stopped by the officials and coaches. When a parent or fan enters the playing field it could cause a complete riot if others follow suit. I do not feel a bit sorry for the man that was arrested and I hope he gets whatever the maximum sentence is for his actions--maybe that will keep it from happening again.

Like I said I was there and saw most of it. There appeared more on the field than this guy, but he was right in the cameras view. It was pretty wild for a few minutes, as the coaches and refs got control.

 

I am sure that if they review the footage there will probably be more arrests.

Question for all:

 

Shouldn't the school be responsible for this also if they allow spectators/parents/whoever that close to the field? This is at least the 3rd incident this year that has happened at a high school football game this year.

I was shocked that this clip aired when I saw it. I guess I am used to national tv not showing clips like this to avoid future occurences.

Don't know the law on this in KY but in another state I coached in this is a felony and is specified as such by statute specificly adressing HS and

youth sports.

 

The Ky legislature needs to do the same thing. There is only one reason in the world I could think of for a parent to be on the field, and that is if their child is seriously injured and they are allowed to check on them. Other than that ban them for life.

We had a similar situation at a Varsity wrestling match. My son was putting a hurting on a kid on the mat, when the father, who was big as a house, came running out of the stands onto the mat. Turns out he came running out because his kid had a bad knee and my son was tying it up pretty good. But when he came onto the mat, no one knew what his intentions were. My son about crapped himself. The official was pretty shook by it too. Like HT721 said, the parents need to stay in the stands and let the coaches and officials take care of business.

Man who ran on to field should never be allowed to attend a high school sporting event in the state and scholl should be fined for allowing this too happen.

I think the KHSAA and each school should review how close non-participants can actually get to the playing area.

How about we start with "If you're not a participant, coach or team staff, you must keep your butt in the seats and away from the field, mat, court, etc. If you ain't on the team, then stay off the sidelines."
