Lorrie Morgan would have made a great Nancy. :D

He's being pegged as an actor, but that seems to be a minor role in his life. From Wikipedia:

Thompson is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a Visiting Fellow with the American Enterprise Institute, specializing in national security and intelligence.[

While in private practice, he also accepted appointments as Special Counsel to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee (1980–1981), Special Counsel to the Senate Intelligence Committee (1982), and Member of the Appellate Court Nominating Commission for the State of Tennessee (1985–1987.)

Thompson was appointed minority counsel for the hearings surrounding the Watergate scandal.

In 1977, Thompson represented Marie Ragghianti, who was a former Tennessee Parole Board chair. Ragghianti had refused to release felons who had bribed aides to Democratic Governor Ray Blanton in order to obtain clemency.

Thompson has been a lobbyist intermittently since 1975, and has earned about $1 million from his lobbying efforts during that time. Except for the year 1981, his lobbying never amounted to more than a third of his income.

While I have not yet read it, I heard there is a very interesting article on him in Newsweek.

Sounds like a great story as far as coming from a rough background, marrying at 17, going to night school, getting a scholarship to Vandy Law, being groomed by Howard Baker, etc.

Another actor with delusions of grandeur . Usually they are Democrats .

He's far from "just" an actor.

Both he an John Edwards announced their Presidency runs on late night comedy talk shows (Edwards did it on the Daily Show, pre-Kerry).

Coincidence or Political "Rock the Vote"-esque move to involve the younger crowds?

With a history as distinguished as his, it really makes you wonder what he would do with his five or so minutes a week of spare time.

Prepare yourself...............

This man in a republican politician that I actually like. :D

I know what you mean....I feel the same way

I wonder if he can be the next Ronald Reagan?

I mean this with RESPECT.... there will never be another Reagan....he was one of a kind..... Lets see if he wins (Fred) and makes his own reputation as a good prez! - I really like this guy - he seems to be a good old fashion person with realistic views.

Don't forget his military service as Task Force commander aboard a Nuclear AirCraft Carrier in the Atlantic during

The Hunt for Red October :thumb:

I want to hear him say 'Russians don't take a dump without a plan' at one of the G8 summits...

...being groomed by Howard Baker, etc.
I know what was meant by this line, but I just can't shake the image of Baker grooming Thompson the way baboons on the Serengeti plain groom one another... :scared:  :scared: :creepy:
