Trinity 39 Bowling Green 28

Featured Replies

Wow, what a game. BG has a ton of athletes, and apparently a lot of youth. Their performance tonight confirmed my belief that they are one of the top 3 teams in the state. You could tell their qb was a three year starter, as he was a leader on the field.

I thought BG's defense was outstanding. It was akin to a college scheme, with the corner blitzes and disguised cover 2 and 3. It was impressive to watch. The corners played outside leverage and forced our wide outs inside to the safety and olbs. It was the best defensive performance since X in the 2005 state game.

And maybe my above comments show how far Trinity has come since Beatty came on board. That is, BG has the best defense I've seen in a year or two, yet they gave up 39 points. I think, I like a lot of Trinity fans, have beome spoiled. We should not take for granted the unprecedented run Trinity is on right now.

Great job Rocks and that's 25 in a row versus Kentucky opponents.

Several contributors in the past week leading up to this game.....discussed the "Trinity MO".....not giving up ...fighting until the end....maybe being down but not quitting and not over until that final horn. Thats what we saw tonight. I echo everything said about BG. I agree with CR..about being one of the top teams in the state. I was most concerned about this game and it proved to be so. They are the real deal and most of all....at least to me......they had no fear about coming into our place and taking it to us. And that they did. I very much want to think that LSU Rock had a hand in us pulling this one out. Great game -good for us to open with such tough competition... hope we learned tons to help us out even more down the road.

Good job Coaches and players.........

My hats off to BG!!! - Class team - Class Coach!

Great night at Marshall Stadium - Welcome to HS Football 2007 - This was the best game I have seen in the new Marshall Stadium - 8 lead changes wow!

Also enjoyed hanging out with the Guru. Come back anytime.

Sounds like the best game BG has played in recent years. Congratulations!

I really think that BG can ride tonight's experience all the way to a championship on an identical surface late this fall.

We should not take for granted the unprecedented run Trinity is on right now.

A truer statement may never have been written... :thumb:

Notice to all of 5A: BOWLING GREEN HAS ARRIVED!!

The Purples, I will tell you right now, are going to be a force in 5A. I think that, not only will they reach that game in December, but they will give somebody (hopefully my Birds) all they can handle!

That was an impressive showing against the mighty Rocks!

*See my post in General Discussion for all the scoop on the BGPers in attendance. ;)

Great Game tonight!!! Congrats to BG for a great performance. It was a great high school football game. Will Stein performed great in leading the ROCKS for the 2007 campaign!! Defense needs to correct a few things for next week, but that will be taken care of by the coaching staff. Great start to the season and lets roll on... LSU Rock we miss you! GO Rocks!!!!

If BG doesn't win state, something is wrong. Congrats to both teams. You could tell BG had one game under their belt. I would say all aspects on the O side clicked pretty good. There were some mis-haps, but nothing major. As for the defense, some miss tackles, but they got the stops when they needed. Good overall performance. Good luck to BG in their season.

Don't forget Highlands, we play some good 5A football up here in NKY.:thumb:

These comments about BG are not surprising… BG has played hard nosed football since day one, it’s their trademark I guess you could say…

The Purples came out swinging and never stopped. This was one of the most fun Trinity home games I've ever seen. Normally we have to wait until the playoffs to see a game of this quality.

Stein seemed a bit shaky at first but found his touch as the second half progressed. The defense played as well as could be expected, though, I'll confess, I didn't see the "best defense in 20 years" that I heard about. That said, the line and linebackers have some great talent and with the secondary shored up a bit, they have the potential to reach that kind of level.

I liked what I saw tonight. I'm definitely feeling the effects of being "spoiled" as CentreRocks perfectly put it, and I'm certain it's reflecting in my analysis. But this team definitely has the necessary ingredients to win No. 18.

First, I'd like to congratulate the Rocks on a victory that they earned. It certainly wasn't the blowout that most predicted. Second, for any Purples reading this, I am immensely proud of BGHS's effort last night...the guys came calling at the impressive home of a 17-time state champion and didn't back down. The Purples could have folded their tents after that impressive 2nd qtr drive by the Rocks. Instead, the guys answered with a 39-yd TD scamper by sophomore Lavance Anderson. Third, your facility is one to be envied. Mrs PH and I loved it, and we were proud to have the opportunity to have seen a ball game there! Fourth, thanx to the previous posters on this thread for recognizing the super effort by both teams in this game. Also thanx for your assessment of our chances of the first 5A title...high praise indeed from a camp that knows all about state championships, and we appreciate it! I know that the guys will try their level best not to disappoint! Fifth, thanx to the Rocks for allowing us to have an opportunity to battle a team that has a superbly balanced attack. We aim to have state championships of our own, and facing this kind of offense and learning from the experience is the way to achieve this. Finally, this game provided an opportunity to get to see many in our BGP Family. Mrs PH and I treasure every chance we get to see (or meet for the first time) folks in this family!

Though we didn't win, the guys now have had some of the absolute best OJT that they could have gotten anywhere. And we were all priviledged to see such a marvelous football game...I'm already looking forward to next year's game at Donaldson Stadium/Beard Field! Best of luck to both squads the rest of the 2007 season...may we both bag the top prize this year!:D

Very Well stated.and most appreciated. I think nothing but high praise and admiration from both sides ---- and that's how it should be. CR your right again........we are "spoiled"--------- but hopefully still appropriately humble.

Great night ...........great game..............great runs to the finals for both. Thanks again to BG for making the trip and providing the fans with such a game. GO ROCKS...............

A very exciting game!! There were times that I actually forgot to breathe. I really can't think of anything more to say about the game that has not already been said. This was a sit on the edge of your seat game. It really was anyone's win. This was the type of game that you really hate to see anyone lose or win because both deserved the win!! Both of these teams have heart, love for the game, and play as a team. Great job guys!!!

A great high school football game played between two great teams. B/G showed that they had already played a game and Trinity showed it was their first game. I think the referees showed that this may have been a first game of the year for some of those guys too. even thought I thought that it was a pretty even called game, they missed calls on both sides. Good luck B/G hope that we both get to the pizza box in December and take home the hardware in 5-A & 6-A. Great call to add the rocks to your schedule and a great test for us.

Don't forget Highlands, we play some good 5A football up here in NKY.:thumb:
Having seen both teams play. The Birds will have their work cut out for them, should they meet up with this Purple bunch.
