How is NKY doing for middle school football?

We don't have any 15 year old 8th graders but it would be within the rules. As long as a kid turns 19 after the shool year starts they would be allowed to play through high school. So they could turn 15 in 8th, 16 in 9th, 17 in 10th, 18 in 11th and 19 in 12th--so it would be completely legal. Actually I think that 8th graders would be allowed to play in a freshman game. If I'm not mistaken (and I very well could be) but I think the way the rule reads is that 8th graders can't play in any game (in a contact sport) that juniors and seniors could be involved in. Since several teams have juniors on their JV team that would eliminate them from playing in those games but I think that they could play in a freshman only game.
Unlike the other sports, you can only have 4 years of high school football, that is why 8th graders don't play on the freshman team.

8th graders I believe can play on the Freshman team as long as it is freshman only. I know of one kid a So. Laurel doing this.

I did find out that they can play freshman and JV, but no varsity.

Yeah it's the way I said earlier. They can compete in games against 9th and 10th graders so if they play in a JV game there could be no juniors playing.

Does anyone know who won the North Laurel vs. Clay County 8th grade game last night? It will determine the final seeding for the playoffs.

North Laurel and Clay Co. plays Thursday night. I thought Meece's 8th grade was the number #1 seed, Corbin #2 seed, Clay Co. #3 ,and north #4.

7th grade South Laurel 1# seed, Corbin 2# seed, Clay Co. 3# seed and North Laurel 4# seed.

Championship games played at Meece, on Oct. 25th.

I don't think the seedings are finalized yet. Meece is 4-0 and Corbin is 3-1. I'm assuming that both Clay and North beat South so their game would decide who was #3 and #4. In 7th grade South is 4-0, Meece has beaten North and lost to Clay, South and Corbin. If Clay beats North wouldn't Meece be the #4 seed since they beat North head to head?

I think Williamsburg has cancelled there game with Meece for tomorrow night. It is going to be a long break for the Jumpers.

Williamsburg did indeed cancel. We've been looking for a game for next week. I thought New Harlan was interested but their coach didn't answer an email and no one called me back when I gave them my number. Is anyone interested in playing Meece next week--we need a tuneup for the playoffs. Even if we have to take a beating it's better than having 3 weeks off.

South Laurel 7th grade beat a very good Perry Centrals 7th/8th grade team tonight 44-26

This improved their record to 8-0 on the year.

That would be true because north has not won a conf. game. South plays Meece Corbin plays clay in 7th. 8th Meece plays Clay and Corbin plays North.

Thanks, that's what I thought. Both first round 7th grade games will be at South won't they? In 8th Grade North should travel to Corbin for the first round while Clay goes to Meece and the 7th and 8th grade finals will be at the highest remaining 8th grade seed.

:thumb: This is what I was told also.............. The 8th grade is going to be some very good games. Corbin's 8th lost to Bell Co. this past Thursday and they seem to really be struggling since they lost their QB. I am still hearing that he will return for the playoffs though. If he does return then I will say it will be Meece and Corbin in the 8th grade finals and in the 7th I would say South and Corbin.
