August 29, 200719 yr After watching them in this tournament, I have officially swung to the side of HT and will agree that Kobe is the best player in the league. When they are head to head in league play, sometimes it's difficult to determine, and before the tournament, I'd have said Lebron is the best. Now that you can see them on the same team, on the floor at the same time, it's evident to me that Kobe is heads above the others in virtually all aspects of the game. JMHO, of course.No doubt... :thumb: I am also officially ready to throw in Carmello as one of the top 5 in the NBA. He can do it all.

August 29, 200719 yr Melo has been down right nasty so far for them. Not top 5 for me yet. Glad to see some people start coming around (About Kobe). I figured it might push some people away because he isn't really trying to score. He is really putting his energy into defensive mostly and is very very good at it. I have heard nothing but great things about him and these guys and about how well they get along and about what a great teammate he has been.
August 29, 200719 yr Carmelo some how ends up being the best player on the floor every night. He is playing out of position at th 4 spot and is just dominating. Kobe Bryant is the best basketball player on the planet. It realy showcases how great he is in a setting like international play. The only weak part of his game, being a leader, is the one thing he doesn't have to do here because he has Jason Kidd as his back court mate. Dwight Howard is an absolute BEAST. Amare is awesome too, but he is more suited to play th 4 spot instead of the 5. Lebron plays the game kind of like a middle linebacker. He is the strongest guy on the team. And Mike Redd is an amazing shooter. Add in D-Wade and Chris Bosh to next year's olympic team and I think you'll see a team dominate like the 96 version of Team USA. Nothing will ever compare to the 92 team!

His teams were 28-0 coming into this tourney dating back to 1993. He may be getting older but having a pure point guard like Kidd is the key to the meshing of the egos and having the proper distribution of the ball. I just hope he has enough left to play in the Olympics. He does that and leads the US to the gold and he will make huge, huge strides to repairing his image. Along as he does nothing between now and then to further sully it.

The majority of the better foreign players do not come from Central/South America and Canada. The European teams along with Russia and China will be a much better comparison.
