Out of all the players in the FIBA Championship he is 3rd in scoring (21.7 ppg) , 8th in FG % (.600), 16th in rebounding (5.3 rpg), He is not in the top 15 in minutes played. (No USA player is) USA has the top 3 FG % leaders (D Howard, LeBron & Amare) Jason Kidd is 3rd in the championships with 4.83 assists per game. The USA team is leading 6 out of the 9 team statistics (Blocked shots, Assists, Turnover Margin +8.17, Assist/Turnover ratio 2.81, Defensive rebounds & 3 point FG's made - 80 with an average of 13.33 per game. USA 112, Venezuela 69 USA 123, U.S. Virgin Islands 59 USA 113, Canada 63 USA 113, Brazil 76 USA 127, Mexico 100 USA 117, Puerto Rico 78 That is an average winning margin of 43.3 The orignal Dream Team had a average winning margin of 43.8 International basketball has come a long way since the days of the Dream Team. Other countries have been producing more and more quality NBA players. Lets face it, other nations gain instant credibility by beating the USA or giving them a good game. I know that no one has been close yet. How will this TEAM react when that first team does challenge them? That is when we will be better able to judge this team.

Composed primarily of younger NBA players, the team lacked the widespread appeal of its predecessor but nevertheless continued its dominance. The 1994 roster included Isiah Thomas recently retired from the NBA, Shaquille O'Neal, Reggie Miller, Dominique Wilkins, Joe Dumars, Alonzo Mourning, Mark Price, Shawn Kemp, Dan Majerle, Derrick Coleman, Larry Johnson and Kevin Johnson. Coached by Don Nelson of the Golden State Warriors, this team easily captured the gold medal in tournament play.

I suppose the coach should be commended for part of it. Maybe it has to do with it being a college coach. The college game translates much better into international competition.
