August 24, 200719 yr Well gang it is official.....I am now retired:banana:   I planned on working until 12:00 today but I turned in my office key at 11:15, and after 28 years, I left the building. I would love to say that I felt nothing but excitement when I left but that wouldn't be the truth. I drove around for over an hour just crying. I feel better right now but I still feel such sadness. I have made two major changes to my life in just a few days over a month, getting married and retiring, and I can tell you that I am on an emotional roller coaster. Please don't get me wrong I am full excitement with my marriage and with my retirement but at this point it is almost too much for me to even think about. One of my clerks, the one who has been with me the longest, gave me a card and ask me not to look at it until I got home. Oh my...the things this woman said to me in a letter she enclosed inside the card, was just overwhelming for me. If I ever feel that no one loves me or appreciates me, then all I will ever have to do is read this letter. What this woman said to me was one of the top compliments I have ever received and it warms my heart to know that made a difference in someone's life. So I am off to see what the big deal is about these afternoon shows...or perhaps I'll go clean out my car:D
August 24, 200719 yr Congrats RebelK :thumb: - you have obviously worked for and deserved this day, enjoy it. :thumb:
August 24, 200719 yr I was going to retire a month after I got married but it turns out she lied to me about how much money she had. It's almost 30 years later and I still can't retire. Seriously, enjoy your retirement. You must be very special to receive a card like that one.
August 24, 200719 yr Congrats RebelK!!! Speaking from experience(retired myself last year after 30 years) you're going to love it! I do a little consulting work now(emphasis on little) but I sometimes wonder how I had time to work.

Thanks everyone --- I talked to BirdsFan for a few minutes and then I did what every retiree should do ------ I went to sleep and slept the afternoon away ---- man I could sure get used to this:lol:  Seriously, The only word I could come up with after reading that letter was humble.....it was humbling to know that someone feels like that about you and that you made such a difference in someone's life.
