Football season is upon us again. There's nothing quite like football Friday nights.

I look for this game to be a slow starting game, at least for the

Tomcats, with all of their losses to graduation. But as it has been said before this Ashland team has talent, but only untested talent. This could be a tough game for both teams as the loss to graduation was tough equally.

I will reserve my prediction as well but I do believe it will be a close, hard fought game.

Aren't our kids fortunate, from all area schools that they live in an area where they receive so much support from their communities. I can't imagine the kids or the coaches are complaining that the Raceland field is "too crowded". I think it adds to the excitement of the game and is a real compliment to the teams from both schools. I can't wait for the game and I hope the place is packed! Can we please quit bickering about the same points? Here's to a great season for all.

I still say Raceland's facilities are too small.

I don't blame Ashland for not playing at Raceland.

I asked Painter why Ashland always insisted on playing Raceland at Putnam. It would be kind of pointless to ask a Raceland fan that question now wouldn't it?

I don't have a problem with where Raceland plays anyone else. Frankly I don't care. I am against playing the Russell/Raceland game at Raceland.

I have stated since talks began about the two playing that I was against playing the game at Raceland. That hasn't changed. If Russell could have gotten a contract done with a couple of other schools then the game between the two would never happen.

I probably will stay home. I'll go the following year when there is room to accomodate everyone.

G-more room for me,

One would think a true football fan wouldn't miss any of his team's games, just because the facility was small, in his opinion. I don't get to go to every game, but when the opportunity to go comes about, the facility, or lack there of, wouldn't deter my attending.

btw, I happen to think Raceland's facilites are much better than some, if not most.

I talked to a few players and they said practice is going great andf looking towards friday night to get the season started. S. Large is going to miss about 6 weeks from what someone told from the team wish him the best.

Also welcome to bluegrasspreps DevilMom and good luck friday night.

Good to hear that Shannon will get to come back. And great news that practice is going well, I have all the confidence that the coaching staff will have Raceland ready to play.

Amen on all counts incognito. I will just comment on this one post on the location / facilities thing and then get back to the game the thread was intended for. Raceland vs. Ashland

My point is that with my disability, health and limits I am thankful to be able to go watch high school football. I can't do that as often as I once did or at all as you know. If I was able to attend all I certainly would and just can't imagine anyone complaining about how much room a place has and/or the crowd.

I apologize , just had to say that. I am done now.

Raceland has a safe playing field. That should be enough to get them home games on alternating years with any team they play. 6 teams travel to Raceland during the 2007-2008 season...Why should Ashland be treated any different ?

The gate money isnt worth it ? Don't give me that. Ashland is not a pro team. High school football isnt about gate money. It's about young men and their desire to represent their school, thats what makes it so great.

I guess Raceland looks up to Ashland for some odd reason.

It may seem elementary, but I believe the difference in the game will come down to the offensive/defensive line play. There is many new faces on the line for both teams. Both teams return some talent in the back field, both have experienced players at QB - both new to the position, but both with game experience.

I'll be watching the line play early. I think that will be indicative of what the end of the game will look like.

That is great to hear about Mr. Large :ylsuper:

Jay you have hit the nail on the head with that one. The good people at Ashland are masters of manipulation and as long as the Ramblers play nice with them the Tomcats will throw them a bone every now and then. Let Raceland go against Ashland and see what happens. My guess is big brother will smack little brother around.
