Lions 27 Bengals 26

Featured Replies

It looked like a simple injury that would only require little rest. What did I miss???

Marvin said in the post game that it was a 'signifigant injury'...

I think Calvin Johnson looked as good as advertised... i know you can't tell a whole lot but he ran good routes, and with his physical tools, good route running and a good ball is all he really needs to make a play...

On one kick return Marvin White and Herana-Daze Jones "hi-lo"ed the Detroit returner for a pretty nasty hit... I think I like White... he might make some mistakes, but he is looking to hit, and he has attitude... that is really missing on that defense...

I know it's pre season, and I like Graham, but I really feel he should've made that field goal.

Marvin White, who I believe SA is referring to, looked VERY good. The guy plays extremely fast and all over the field. Also, how about Ahmad Brooks? He looked sharp on the running and passing defensive schemes. Running stride for stride with the Lions' RB. Pretty impressive....I liked what I saw...

A Bengals' running back with great promise injures a knee in Detroit during a pre-season game. Stop me if you've heard this.

From www.bengals.com:

The fear is that Irons suffered a season-ending knee injury on just the fourth carry of his career and that would be a devastating blow to the Bengals' bid to inject some outside speed into the backfield.

Doug Johnson looked good..
:scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: What were you watching?

I was impressed with both White and Ndukwe. Both made some great plays, like White's INT, and Ndukwe's tackle on the screen play. There were some mistakes by both, but I really think there is a lot of upside.

Ed Hartwell played solid when he was in there. He looked to be in old form, which is good.

Brooks played good too. He goes full speed when going after the ball.

Hall, I'm not concerned about yet. The second pass to Johnson, no DB was going to stop that one. It's going to take him some time as it did Joseph last year.

Mike Myers and Kendrick Allen seemed to be able to get into the backfield a few times. Both I think can be solid additions to the interior of the defense as we know Peko is going to produce. Although Thorton and Robinson are great veteran guys in the locker room, I've never been too impressed with their play on the field.

Green looked fairly good returning punts. I think he has the allusiveness and quickness that Ratliff lacks, and he seems pretty sure handed as he didn't bobble any. Offensively, he's not that bad. He did have one dropped, but either he or Brazell ran the wrong route on that one as they were standing side-by-side. He's the type of receiver you need to get the ball to in the open field.

After a slow start, Doug Johnson got into a rythm, however, if he has to lead this team, then we're in trouble IMO.

Graham missing the game winner again has me a little concerned. As someone else mentioned, that's back-to-back game winners that he's missed. His first 4 of the game were solid, but that last one had me worried before he kicked it.

I'm definitely worried about Irons knee. Hopefully the MRI comes back clean and it's just a bad sprain. When he made that cut, I instantly thought it was his knee, but when he went to the sideline they were looking at his ankle. I was immediately relieved, because when they showed the replay it didn't look like he really rolled it. Then 10 minutes later they say his knee is also hurting, and memories of Carter came to my mind, along with Perry's problems.

Listening to 1530 this morning. Are Cincy football fans really as dumb as Cincy baseball fans? There have been a number of callers that have said, "Same old Bengals" or "Can Shayne Graham make a big kick?" Good lord people...

It's not a sport specific problem...

.

He was 4-5. A career 4-5 kicker is tops in the game. Doyel made a comment about that. If he misses any other kick, the team's not in position to win it at the end anyway. On the list of problems for the Bengals, this is DEAD LAST, IMO...

I was pretty impressed with the way Jeff Rowe managed that last series.

Whoever said Doug Johnson looked good needs to be taken out back and shot. He was the worst 11-20 I have ever seen. Most of his completions were to Chris Henry who outmanned anybody trying to defend him and they were usually 8 yrd slants or outs.

If two people get hurt this year we will go 3-13.

Those two people are Carson Palmer and Rudy Johnson.

Chewbacha impressed me. Rudi is with an I by the way.

I'm convinced this city is VERY stupid. Sports talk radio, when they start taking calls, is brutal.

Granted, 4 for 5 is great. No-one will argue that. But if he and the special teams continue to struggle with that 5th kick, that is a problem. He struggled a little in the scrimmage game last Friday night too. I know it's only preseason, and I'm not going to get worked up about it. But I am very curious to see how he plays out in the regular season.
