Johnson Central High School's New Field pictures

Featured Replies

Johnson Central is a very nice High School. However, it was built in the 1960s. The same facility has been in use since 1969. And, while improvements are made nearly every year, it is far from being ultra modern.

I believe that each school has a responsibility to the children of their own districts. They should not be held responsible for children in other districts. I believe it would be an injustice and grounds for dismissal if any school board member turned down money from the state.

As you said, it is not ultra modern, but it is state of the art in many aspects. You will not find a 40 year old school building anywhere in the country that is as well kept or maintained than Johnson Central High School. It looks as good or better than it did when it was built. Perhaps it's just that our community is very proud of who and what we are and strive to elect Board Members whose main objective is keeping our school sytem the very best it can be both academically and asthetically. It's nothing more than P.R.I.D.E.. Guess what? It's free and anyone can practice it.

If indeed there are no restrictions, and I would assume there is not, placed on how the money is spent, so long as the educational needs of the students are met, how is the money being spent wrecklessly when it is being used to improve the school?

The upgraded facilities are for the students. Thousands of students benefit from these improvements. Who knows how these facilities will afect the lives of these kids. If the availability of these facilities keeps one child away from things that otherwise would have been an influence in their lives and perhaps keeps them out of trouble, then it was well worth the investment.

How many millions of dollars have the taxpayers been spared by doing stringent up-keep and maintenence on the current facilities that we have by trying to make them last well beyond the normal lifespan?

Agree : ------ Agree with you 100%

100% disagree:------ Not if KERA money from the state is being spent in a wreckless manner, ie. junior football fields.

I fail to understand you argument. Johnson County schools are being reward for being one of the top 10 districts arcoss the state and for their hard work you believe we should give to others out of our hard work and rewards. I believe that is the problem with this state and country as a whole. We are always wanting hand outs instead of getting out there and working for our reward. I understand that you local schools may not have the best buildings for educational purposes but it is your duty and the duty of your fellow citizens to vote in Board members who will look out for the good of your school and not themselves. Johnson County has been very fortunate to have such respectful and caring Board members that have the children of Johnson County in their minds with every decision. As I said, I know nothing about the school system that you are talking about, but if the Board that has taken Johnson County from one of the worst districts to being one of the top 10 district statewide, then I as well as you should trust their judgement in how the chose to use their fundings provided by the hard work of everyone in Johnson County.

I agree 100% why should i work my tell off working all day and then when i get paid give the money to someone who laid around all day. Johnson Centrals students and teachers and all others earned this money they should spend it how they please .

Exactly! And when money is available, no matter where the money came from, it is used as you said. It is used for up-keep, maintenance and improvements. These new facilities will reap great financial rewards for the district in the near future. Therefore, Johnson Central will not have to place added burden on the taxpayers.

Great looking field! How many will it seat? Love the background.

When the visitor and home stands are both complete it will be between 5,000 and 6,000. The visitor side should be completed before this season begins, but the home side will not be started until after the season is over.
