Johnson Central High School's New Field pictures

So are those home-side bleachers as far away from the field as the picture shows? Will the new bleachers be closer?

Otherwise, absolutely terrific looking field!

The pictures were taken from the under the press box. The new home bleachers will probably be in the same location as the old ones. The reason for the distance is the new 8-lane track that is being installed.

I'm still a bit confused. Is the machinery sitting where the bleachers will be? It looks like the asphalt surrounding the field should be the track? Maybe I'm seeing this wrong!

Yeah the machinery is where the new home stands will be. What you are seeing is actually the gravel base coat for the track. The asphalt has not been laid yet.

Thanks! That's what I thought, just wasn't sure. Its a great looking place.

Very Very Very nice. J. C. and Belfry lead the way in the east when it comes to High School turf fields. Great pictures.

Field looks great! Nothing better than field turf...

Not sure if you answered the question... How was the Field Turf funded? When we installed Field Turf about 5 years or so ago, all money came from outside the school system. We did not have enough $ left over to install hash marks, team mascot, etc. or lighting.

Nice job!

Despite having a few down seasons I have never considered Johnson central to be a cellar dwellar type of team. Now that Matney has taken over though, it seems that JCHS has went from mediocrity to one of the fastest growing programs in the state.

- Community support is outstanding.

- Amdinistrative support is solid.

- Good media coverage

- Relatively young, hungry head coach.

- Solid feeder system.

- Above average talent pool.

- And now.... impeccable facilities.

Things are really going well in Eagle Country!

Field looks awesome the only thing I did not like about playing on them was getting the black pelets in your mouth. Also I do not think it matters where the money comes from all that matters is you have the support from your local area and others who think it is important for the nice improvements who cares about the money i bet those kids cant wait to get out there and play on it.

I know some people that work the chains... and they will be very happy to get out of the mud.

JC plays Bryan Station, Montgomery County, Belfry, South Point, OH and Wheelersburg, OH away next season. Does anybody know if any of these teams (other than belfry) has turf?

Bryan Station does.

That is one awesome looking field. Congrats to JCHS on what they will get to play on! Very nice!!!

Apparently you missed the point... Other schools, other athletic boosters just may like to know how JC assembled close to a million or so dollars to build a state of the art highschool sports complex. I am sure there are other kids across the state of Kentucky that can not wait to have a sports complex like that in their own back yard.

It also matters to many where the money came from. Is it coming from public funds (KERA, city generated taxes, county tax, etc.) or from private supporters.
