August 1, 200719 yr What happened I missed it?Ball hit up middle, glances off pitchers foot. 2B was breaking to cover bag and ball was behind him, on his glove side....He slows his movement toward 2B and catches behind him and in one continuous motion, turns 180° and tosses the ball out of his glove, blind to the SS covering 2B....gets the force, by 3-4 steps.

Wayne's really getting paranoid over every little thing. He's convinced people really care what he has to say and are hanging on by a moment to his every word. Thankfully the group of people still clinging to whatever hope he can bring in are dwindling. If he sticks around another year, which I guess is up for debate now with the rumors out there. He needs to get this team in the playoffs next year or show some kind of significant improvement.

August 1, 200719 yr I don't think there is anyway he isn't.... You've seen the guy for two weeks and you're ready to lock him into a major league roster spot? At what position? Why wasn't he able to make the Royals? He isn't going to start at 3B over Edwin (although I'd be fine with it), he isn't going to be the 1B RH platoon over Cantu (I wouldn't think, most like power at that corner in spite of Hatteberg's tenure), and in my opinion, he doesn't play defense well enough to be the utility infielder. His arm is horrible and his throwing motion is awkward at best. So what do you do with him? All of that being said, he has been GREAT the last two weeks and I really like him. I just don't know where he fits in.
August 1, 200719 yr The Reds just completed their first over .500 month of the season (14-12, with losing the last 3). They are really going to look back on May as the month that did them in: * Losing 7 of 8 to Houston and Colorado (6 of those games at home) * Losing 6 in a row to Washington and Pittsburgh at GABP. * Losing 7 of 9 on a roadie to LA, SD, and Cle. Yuck.
August 1, 200719 yr I was hoping beyond hope that after Coffey walked the pitcher to lead off the any that a Lou Pinella type move was made and come out and JERK his butt out of the game. He WALKS the pitcher who is leading off the inning. A pitcher who was making his SECOND CAREER AT BAT. UNACCEPTABLE!!!!

I agree. Too many fans are expecting a few tweaks here and there and a contending team next season. I also think the ownership believes this. I guess the issue with letting someine do their thing for 3-4 years is if you don't have the right person doing their thing.

I do think that this off season will be one of if not THE most critical for the Reds in a long time if not ever. JMO
